tendent. The Sunday school was
glad to have Mrs. Elza Turner
back, who was absent last Sunday.
Church services began at 10:45.

Our superintendent, Mrs. Gatua,
was absent. She attended the de
j.armental work of the Religious
Training school at the First Bap
tist church.
The regular church services were
interesting as the pastor spoke
from the 51st Psalms on, ‘Sin
and Its Punishment.” There were
several visitors present who were
made welcome to the church.
BYPU was enjoyed by all. Group
No. 3 was in charge of the pro
gram.
Evening services were, well at
tended considering the weather.
Pilgrim is well represented in
the Baptist Training school now
in session at the First Baptist
church 26th and Park avenue.
Those attending are Mr. J. W, Da
cus, Mr- R. C. Jowers, Mrs. Alic"
Robbins, Mrs. Catherine Jackson,
Mrs. Lula Gatus. Miss Christine
Dixon and Mrs. Minnie Dixon.

intendent.
At 11:00 the pastor brought an
inspiring sermon. Subject, Acts 4:
1-24. Text, “Neither is there sal
vation in any other for there is
none other nnnve under Heaven
gsven among men. whereby we
must be saved.” Everyone enjoyed
the wonderful message. The Junior
choir under the direction of Mrs
F. Cloud rendered a special service
for the Congregation.

in Washington, D. C.. April 1912,

and bliss will dawn. The spirit of
God, encompass and the divine fa

training of God, the real shepherd,

He will lead them in green pas
tures of Happiness and sustenance
and they will attain to the real goal
of existence. It was for the bene
fit, primarily of the western
world that Abdu-T-Baha reduced
the teachings of his father Baha
‘ii’-llah. to what is commonly re
ferred to as the ‘Principles’’ or
“ 1 wt Ive Basic Baha’i Teachings.”

2. Independent investigation of
truth.
3. The foundation of all religion
is one.

Sunday school opened at 9:30
with the superintendent presiding.
At 11:00 o’ocloek our pastor, who
wasn’t feeling well presented an
inspiring message. His text was
found in the 8th chapter of Jere
miah, 20th verse, “The harvest is
past and the summer ended.” His
subject, “We are not Saved.” Choir
service was rendered by the, Junior
choir, all day.
BYPU opened at 5:30 with the
president presiding. A very lovely
program was presenecf by the of
ficers of the BYPU.
At 8 o’clock Rev. Pettis present
ed his sermon. His text was 3rd
chapter of Book of Revelation, 7th
verse.
Our Prayer meeting is coming
along splendid. Last Wednesday 22
were present. Visit us sometimes.

Sunday school opened at its us
ual hour with the superintendent,
Miss Rachel Cason, presiding. All
had a very good lesson. Two were
added to the school.
Morning service was in high with
the Calvary Baptist church choir
and pastor present. All had a won
derful time. The Tribe program
was a great success.
Evening service was in high. The
pastor brought forth a powerful
message. Subject, “Everlasting
Consultation.”
The young people of Clarinda
will present a play titled ' Bash
ful Mr. Bob.” Monday evening,
February 28, at 8 p. m. All are
welcome to come and witness this
play.

At the morning worship we lis
tened to a spirit-filled sermon

the subject: 'Hidden Supplies.”
This sermon was rich with good
.thoughts and was well delivered.
At the evening service we again
heard an interesting discourse on
the subject “Charity.” found in 1st
Corinthians 13.
Next Sunday afternoon which is
the 4th Sunday, the Willing Work
er:-, and Helping Hand Clubs are
featuring a special program at 3
ocloek. A young man who is just
starting in the minisry will preach
for them.
Thursday evening. Feb. 24th at
8 o’clock, the BYPU is sponsoring
the T,as Cantores music club in a
program at the church. The publ'c
is invited.
Saturday, Feb. 26, the Helping
Hand club is giving a chitterling
supper at the home of Mrs. Bd
diep.
Many of our members are on the
sick list. The latest addition is
Mrs. V. O. Jones, wife of the pas
tor. who went to the Methodist
hospital Monday to undergo an op- !
