How good and how pleasant it is for brdhem to dwell together in unity. Sunday was another great day for us. Sunday school at its usual time found a set of smiling child ren, all in eagerness to learn more about Christ. Their lesson for this Sunday was taken from some pam phlets. Subject, “God is Righteous’ The hsson was very encouraging and was explained by teachers and children. Morning service* was good as us ual. Sermon by the pastor was a continued part of his serial. Gen. 25th chapiter. Subject “The Dark est Hour of Life.’’ Some people think thait when they are alone, down in sorrow, and their friends have 'turned against them, that that is the darkest hour, others think thait when they haven’t food, fuel or a home that that is their darkest hour. But the darkest hour is when the end is mar. when fri ends nor anything else can bring us back tc life. Jesus s the light of the world, and when the darkest hour comes, He is the only orift who can comfort us. The sermon was preached very plain and well. Union startled at 6 o clock and the Bible classes are very uplifting and good food for thought. The les. son, taken from St. Matt. 6th I apter was v. ry well taught and explained. The program by the children was very good. Come to Union and learn more about the Bible and encourage one another in their program. Devotional is very strengthening | to the night service. Come out j early and sing nnd prayer, so that | iva-yone will be in tune for the , < vning service. The evening ser- I vice was good. Songs were sung j • y the choir. The evening sermon I by the pastor was another part | o! his serial. Gen. 2Sth chapter and ‘ l/»th verse. Subject. “I Will Not Leave Thie.’ Some people put much faith in worldly things and their friends. Friends are all right when things are going well with you and when you will let them use you ns a convenience, but when Conditions change there are very tf w who will sitand by you. Your n lations are all right but they will turn their backs on you in the time of trouble. Jesus said, ‘T am n friend, that will stand closer than a brother to you; I will not leave thee even unto the end of the world. ’ So it pays to serv. Jesus. After the sermon we. were favored with a song, "Somebody Touched Mo.” Sung and played by Sis. Austin, who is an accompanist for Sis. Goir. the evangeist. She also gave a short talk, letting the church know whose side she was on and what the Lord has done for her. Great revival starting January 31 and ending February 11 will be at the church with Sis. Goir nnd her assistant, Sis. Austin in charge Young Missionary Teacher’s work out their soul salvation while they are young. Come out and en curago them. As the younger gen oration they are the future, church. Conic, bring all your friends and i have your spiritual strength re- ! newed. Let's make this the gr>ent- I ist revival of the year. There will also be a Turkey din ner February 13, at 2224 Erskine | street, by the Community Board. • Sis. Earl Roberts and Sis. Living ston are sick art 2529 Decatur street. BAHAI NEWS Article No. 4 Almost as soon as the Bab pro claimed His mission as the fone mnner of a new spiritual dispen atkn on earth, a young man of Ti hran, a member of one of the nobl est and wealthiest families in Per sia who later became known as Baha u’llah. announced his belief in the new Faith. Subjected to numb nless indignities and tortur es deprived of all his estates and money, imprisoned and finally ex jkd. he remained steadfast in his adherence to the new Cause.. Shortly after the martyrdom of th* Bab this young man became the recognized leader of the Babis, as they wene then known, and when the time was ripe he openly declared himself to be. ‘One whom God would make manifest,’’ the one whom the Bab had foretold. After this time be was known to the Babis as Baha'u'llah. which means Glory of God. From this time on the Babis were known as Baha’is orfollowtfrs of light and glory. Baha u’Huh spent forty years of His life in exile and imprisonment because dared to advocate the principles of world peace and the brotherhood of man, declaring that these must come to pass on this earth as actual facts and not mere idealistic dreams. He write, in 1N63, to 'the kings and rliters of ''nrth, urging them to establish a , universal tribunal which would i keep the place of the world iri'act land stated very emphatically that I any government desiring to go to war should be promptly boycotted by every other country and ev n destroyed if necessary, because that wopld undoubtedly result in the formation of a new and moire just more peace-teving government in the place* of the one destroyed. Baha’is believe that Baha’u llah is the One who was promised in the latficr days and that His mis sion on earth was chiefly to pro mote peace and brotherhood among all mankind. He was the first to prmulgate the principles of world wide, lasting peace among all na tions; equality between men and women, and all of the other prin ciples contained in the Baha'i Faith which men and women of fhe western world take so much for granted today. Having spent more, than half of His life in prison, He passed from this world on May 29, 1892. Before (his tvent he had made a will and Testament appdinting his eldest son, ‘Abdu'l-Baha. as the Center of His Covenant—>the One to whom all Baha'is should turn; the author- ; i?ed expounder and exemplar of] His teachings and Center of the | Baha’i Faith. The next article w ill deal briefly with the jjife and teachings of ‘Abdu'l-Baha, the Servant of find. -o SALEM I! VPTIST ( III Kt II Rv. C. C. Bettis, Bastor . .
