METROPOLITAN CHURCH
Rev. R. \\ . Johnson, Pastor
Mrs. Mat)‘I Canton, Roportei
There is no joy like serving God.
Sunday was another day on record
for the church. The member- and
friends seem to be in one accord
cooperating together. Sunday
School started the day with the
children all in their placets. They
had n review lesson. ‘‘Christian
i hanicter and 1‘eice” Col. .‘1:1 to 17
All were very attentive and the lea
son was very well explained. 11:00
o’clock seri'iiv was good. The pas
tor was impressed by God to start
taking his sermons from the begin
ring of the Bib!' and going clear
through in series. Since he stated
that the Lord spoke to him and
told him that his children were not
reading their Bibles, hi' is asking
all members and friends who care
to bring their llihles with them
and follow each serial ns he pren
ches. His subject was taken from
Gen. 1:1 ‘‘In the beginning God
created heaven and earth.” Subject
‘‘Oeait/ion.’’ All who were follow
ing him could really get a wonder
ful picture of God creating earth
and all within and of Adam and
Eve disobeying God. And as God
created heaven and earth, it would
bo a wonderful thing if we would
ask Him to create in us n clean
heart and renew a right spirit
within us.
The Union at 6 o’clock is very
uplifting and is full of instructions.
We are asking you to come to
Union and edrn more about the
Bible and also he on the volunteer
programs.
Evening services was at its best
There was plenty of good music,

thers candle in the candle service.
The sermon preached by the
pastor was his second serial. Sub
jedt, ‘ Come into the Ark of Safe
ty.” Taken from Gen. 6th chapter
and the 13th vevrse. He painted a
wonderful picture in the minds of
those who are following him. of
Noah building the Ark. Those who
were allowed to enter in pairs into
the Ark. The flood and how the
sinners who had mocked him, were,
trying to find refuge. The same
God thait spoke then is speaking
now, asking us to come into the
Ark of Safety. Come filthy, com >

ST. JOHN A. M. E. CHURCH
‘The Kiendlv Church"
l)r. R. A. Adams, F’astor
The second Sunday of the n<w
year brought forth fine attendance
at St. John. The Sunday school
was quite full of interest.
Dr. John Adams, senior presid
ing elder of the Kansas district
brought to us a very fine message.
His text was from Ja.s. 3rd chap
ter and the 4th verse. Hig general
thought was on the things that are
combating the church today. One
rf his muny thoughts to remember
' The only way to make the Church
of Jesus Christ better for its mem
bers to make themselves bettor by
is ally practicing what is right and
just as one practices, he or she
will gradually grow that way.”
There was one to join the church
nuring the first week, but none
however, on Sunday morning.
After the sermon, there wore two
baptized. Miss Essm Washington
and little Bobbie Jewel.
The trutets are in an emergency
rally and it is hoped that each
member and friend wll give some
tiling to help out at this very needy
time.
The. sick of the church are Mrs.
Doris Talley, Brother Cook, a
member of the choir; Sister Hattie
Womack and brother P. W White
are still improving fine.
We wish for them and all other
sick members of the church a
speedy recovery.
Now this is the starting of a
new year and it would be very
fine if each member would see to
it that his or her church oblign
tions are kept up in fine shape,
that this may be the best year of
all for St. John.
Get your requests in now for
the 4th Sunday night all request
