This Week In Thought and Religion By Robert L. Moody — The Spirit of Christmas We have begun preparation for the most joyous season of the year, the birthday anniversary of our Lord. Tradition has given us many features to be used during the celebration e. g. carol singing, the . burning of the Yule Log, Santa Claus and many other interesting practices. The legend of Santa Claus seem, inly is the most ponular. Though we don’t clarify its deceptive ap '•ince. the spirit of Santa Claus is v*iy practical. H would be very fitting if we were to give all of our alms and Christmas gifts in the mysterious way that ‘Old Saint Nic’' gives his. Our homes and communities would be kept very joyful if we would smile and be as interested in the happiness of others as “Santa” does. Let us not only think of our friends, but remember the poor, sick and “shut in’ people of our community. Let us carry them a bit of the cheer that we possess. MT. NERO BAPTIST CHURCH Helen Bradshaw, Reporter Rev. Gates, Pastor The Mt. Nebo services were well attended despite the unfavorable weather. Sunday was covenant meeting and the services were in deed spiritual food to the soui. Mt. Nebo added another member to the church role. Our BYPU is not progressing as we would like for it to be owing to the illness of the president. Sunday night, Rev. J. A. Harris ■preached a wonderful sermon, using as his text a scripture found in 2nd Peter 3rd chapter and the 18th verse. His subject was "Chris tian Growth." After the sermon of Rev. Harris Communion was held. You are always invited to come and worship with us. COMPLETE LAUNDRY and . DRY CLEANING SERVICE SOUTH SIDE Cleaners & Laundry 24th and O Sts.
