At 11:00, the pastor brought the message from I J/ohn 3:7 "Little Children let no man deceive you, he that doeth righteounness is righteous even as he is righteous. Crists friends, may we by the Grace of God, do righteousness un dei all circumstances and keep true to God. Evening service, the pastor ug.iin brought a real soul stirring mess age. Col. 1:13. Subject, “Christ, Our Deliverer,” Friends, God gave us his only son that we might he free from sin of all kinds, and that vve might serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness, all the days of our lfe. There are many souls in sin today seeking rest, hut there s only one place we will fnd peace and that is in Jesus. May sinners seek Him, now while they (have such wonderful chances. Gates, Pastor Dolly Dixon, Reporter Sunday sechool opened at the us ual hour vvit/h Supt. Fred Conner at his post. Lesson was, “God Feeds 1 A People.” The attendance was huge. Morning service was on time with the pastor filling the pulpit. He preadhed from the 23rd Psalms, ‘‘The Lord is My Shepherd, I shall not Want." Mrs. Christene Phillips united with the church. Deacon Crawford of Zion Baptist church was a visitor with us, as was Mr and Mrs. Evans, and L. Lewis, from Jacksonville, 111., who is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Phillips. Eevening service was wel at tended and the pastor delivered a wondrful sermon. Visitors are al ways welcome. -o ZION BAPTIST CHURCH Rev. M. K. Curry, Pastor Sunday school opened at 9:30, with a large namber present. Sub ject of lesson, "God Feeds a Peo ple," which was a very beautiful an helpful lfcsson. At 11 o’clock, the pastor preached from Matt. 26:39. A large audience enjoyed this in spiring sermon. Communion was held following tihe regular morning service. The following visitors wor shipped with us. Mrs. Seester Tal ton, Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Georgia Spicer, Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, of Louisville, Ky., and several others. BYPU opened at 6:30 with quite a number present. 8:00 services were brief, 'nie pastor read a por tion of the scripture from Jas. 1-17, and the lesson “Superior Gifts" was derived from this scripture. The Missionary Society which meets eadh Monday evening at 7:46 under the leadership of our presi<Jent, Mrs. Caro Jay nos, is doing a splendid work. Come to Zion and worship with us. Come to the Missionary Society. METROPOLITAN CHURCH Rev. R. W. Johnson, Pastor Mrs. Willlie Williams, Reporter Sunday scchool opened at 9:30 with Mr. Porter at his post of duty. Mr. Porter sent out a plan to you. (Come to Sunday sohool on Sun day.) At 11:00 the services were very inspiring, witih the spirit running high. The sermon was taken from the 16th Chapter of Acts. Subject: ‘ A desire to know Jesus.” Mrs. Edna Mitdhell united with the church. The 6:00 Lhiion was well attended with Mrs. Woody as tea cher. She urges nil to come out and attend the wonderful Union. At 8:00 the pastor chose his subject from songs. Subject, ‘‘He is tihe one who was added to the church. A very large crowd attended this servie. You are welcome. A Gospel Feast will be given by the Metro politan Choir Friday night at 8:00 p m. at Ohe Pleasant Green Bap tist church. Evryone is welcome, o ST. JOHN A. M. E CHURCH ''The Friendly Church” Rev. R. A. Adams, Pastor The services at Sa. John last Sun. were very impressive despite the hot weather. As this was the last Sunday before the annual Sunday school picnic, the attendance was good. Rev. Adams preached in the morning from Acts 2 and tihe last part of the 40th verse. “Save your self from this Untoward Genera tion." n the afternoon Dr. Adams and n part of his choir went to Allen 01' a pel to assist Rev. Stevens in his quarterly meeting. In the even ing service, there was only a short service. The only sick reported was Mr. C. B. Kitchen. Wo all pray for his speedy re covery. Next Sunday will be women’s day, with Mrs. Maude Ray in charge. They expect a fine pro gram. The 5th Sunday, August 29tih, will be young people’s day. They will have a ohor of 50 or more voices, with Miss Eloise Jones of Dallas, Texas, directing tihem. Henson, sjecond, .raised $15.00, and received a beautiful pair of pillow slips. Visitors are always welcome at Salem. The Salem Baptist church BYPU, will hold it’s annual outdoor meet ing at Elmwood park, Sunday Au gust 15th, from 6:00 p. m. until 7:00 p. m., which will consist of a model BYPU, pn-ogram drills and a group picture made. All cars will meet at the church, 28th and Deca tur streets nt 4:30 p. m. for decor ations and passengers. Will leave promptly at 6 p. m., for the park headed by motorcycle escort. East to 24th street, North to Lake, West to 30th, South to Hamilton, and West to park. Three o'clock, Rev. Gates, pastor of Mt. Nebo Baptist church, prea ched a wonderful sermon for the Mission Cireele. His subject was “Staying on the Kings Hghway.” -o PLEASANT GREEN BAPTIST CHURCH Morning services at 10:45 a. m., devotion by Deacons. BYPU Sunday evening at 6:00, and we urge everyone to come and help buld up this Youth organization. Eight o’clock services were well attended, with the sermon being delivered by Rev. Crowell. Perhaps they have realized that God must be served in season and out, regardless of climatic condition Hhe sermon at the morning wor ship was timely and thoughts that were spiritual food were presented. The Deaconess board is giving a lawn social and barbecue, Friday evening, at the church. Everyone is invited to come and have a good time. Miss Anna Long, who is employ ed at a summer resort, sent an in teresting communication to the church. Those on the sick list are Mrs. Mc.Craty and Mrs. Davidson. Both are very ill.
