Bridge and Keno were the games
of the evening, nnd Champagry
Cocktails and wines were sipped
until the wee Ibours of the morning.

Mr. J. D. Lewis, otie of Omaha’s
popular morticians, has just re
turned from an extensive motor trip
carrying him through Iowa, Illinois,
Michigan, and in Canada, where he
had an enjoyable stay in Montreal.
Mr. Lewis was highly impressed
■with the economic conditions of the
Negro in Montreal.

Urban League Notes
For the first time in the history
of Omaha, many of tihe under
1 privileged Negro boys of our com
munity will have a chance to go to
camp. Through the efforts of Mr.
! B. E. Squires, exerut've secretary
of tlhe Omaha Urban League, th
facilities at Camp Sheldon, on of
the finest camjfc in the state will
be made available for the week of
Aungust 15th.
The Ur! an League feels Hint one
of the most valuable assets in the
program of developir g "men of
tomorrow” is to give ramp ng exper
ience to "boys of today.”
Many of the boys know nothing
other tlhan the city stre ts as e
place of recreation and fun. This
week in the woods close to nature
with swimming, boating, fishing,
hiking, tennis, baseball, badminton
volly ball, handicraft ard nature
study nil in a day s program will
do much to give these youngsters a
different view of life.
The will be under the care and
guidance of worthy, professional
and Christian leaders. TlLe group
of 26 or 30 boys will leave the
Community Center building on
Sunday, August 16th at 12 o'clock.
The camp fee for many of the
boys have been made possible by
the contributions of many interest
ted people in the community, to
whom the Urban League wishes to
express its appreciation.
It is the desre of the Urban Lea
gue to use this camping program
a* a foundation to build a per man
ent ramping program for the wor'
thy and underprivileged boys of
our group.
