Adams, Pastor Last Sunday was a banner day. The attendance at Sunday school was very good. At the morning service, the Elks held their Memorial Service as the beginning of their Midwestern Convention. Dr. Adams spoke from Ebcodos 12:3B, subject, "What Mean You By This Ser vice?” From this subject he preached a fine sermon in that there were many good thoughts for the Elks assembled as well as others of the congregation. He brought out that the pur pose of the service and the works of the Elks was to give opportunity for the living and to give testimony of apprecia tion for the living as well as the dead, bringing out that one of their most important works, if not most important, was their educational program for young people and that the order was based upon the teaching of the Bible and fhe love for one an other. In the afternoon, Rev., Adams went to Council Bluffs to prea ch for Rev. Slater and his con gregation, but the choir was not able to go as was expected. The evening service was short and some of the congregation went to Zion to hear the oratorical contest given by the Elks. There were many out-of-town visitors, far too many to men tion, but St. John is always glad to welcome its visitors. You will perhaps see that the Omaha Oudic. your own local paper, has on a subscription campaign.
