The attendance at church, however, was as usual. Rev. Adams preached at the morn ing and evening services. These sermons were filled with spiritual food. We are now looking forward to Father’s Day, which we hope will be just as successful. Thu pastor preached two very able sermons both being highly spiritual The fourth chapter of John was the background for the morning sermon. The paster will be outo f the city ■during the week helping to conduct a revival. He asked an interest in the prayers of the church. The Holy Spirit manifested itself throu ghout the day and a number of persons expressed a desire to be remembered in his prayers ns he labors during the week. Sunday, May 23rd, at 3 p. m-, the Mission Society is conducting a Women's Day program and Pew rally. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. The sick are Mrs. McCraty, Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. C. Sunday school was well attend ed The lesson was interesting. The pastor spoke for the junior church, at the 11 a. m. sermon and at 8 p. m. All services were very spirit ual with good attendance. The 11 o’clock service was especially spi ritual, taken from Isaiah, “J'esus, the Wonderful Counsellor.” To the sick we say, “Make known unto the Lord of thy case and He will help thee ” The thought for the day is, “O give thanks unto the Lord, make known His deeds among His peo ple.” CLAIR CHAPEL M. E. Rev. W. C. Conwell, Pastor Georgia Goo»by, Reporter Services were well attended throughout the day. The pastor preached from II Titn. 12:12 at the morning services. His subject was “Taking the Cross.” A very impressive, service was sponsored by the young people iwnmnirmm-rrrrrrnr< during the League since it was an niversary day. The lighting of the Cross by the officers ofthe League was very beautifully portrayed as the duties of each were explained. Much credit is due Mr. Alvin Wilk es of Lincoln who always brings something of encouragement to this group. At the evening service our pastor preached on “How to Prevent Quar rels." Next Sunday is Quarterly Meet ing and Sunday night is request song service. Come and hear your [favorite song. The lesson was briefly discussed which was enjoyed by those pre sent- The subject for Sunday, May 21 rd, is “What Did Je.sus Mean By Turning the Other Cheek?” Our thought for the week: “We will bo tried as gold is tried in the fire and if it is pure gold it will come out all right. B- Reynolds, Reporter Sunday school was opened at U:30 a. m. 138 were present- The subject of the lesson was, "Isaac, A Man of Poreboarance.” Great enthusiasm was lrianifested on the part of all. At the 11 a m. sermon, Rev. Curry preached. His text was taken from Revelations 6th chapter. B. Y. P. U. was well represented in each group. President Crawford is wide awake in his efforts to make the Union a success. At 8 o’clock, the pastor preach ed from the subject ‘Peace.’ It was beautifully illustrated. -o— .— MT. NEBO BAPTIST 0 H U R CH Rev. J. G. Gates, Pastor Dolly Dixon, Reporter Tho Mt. Nebo Sunday school was well attended, and much was gain ed from the lesson. Morning service was a happy oc casion as everyone spoke of the muny good things “mother," had done for them, followed by a won derful message from our pastor. We had with us three visitors, whom we are always glad to have. At three o’clock our rally went forth well attended with the speak er of the hour, Rev-Moseley,who delivered! a good message. Tho evening service was well at tended and all enjoyed the message. -o SALEM BAPTIST CHURCH 28th and Decatur Streets Rev. M- B. Bilbrew, Pastor Minnie Bryant, Reporter Services were very good at Sa lem Sunday. Tho Sunday school was very well attended. The class rally sponsored by the Sunday school was a remarkable success. Don’t forget the Birthday Dinner Party sponsored by the Sunday school. At 11 a. m-, our pastor brought to us a splendid gospel message. The B. Y. P. U. had a very in spiring radio program under the auspices of Group No. 4. Mrs. Con stance Cole is captain. Baptism was at 7:30 p. m Six, were candidates for baptism. On last Sunday, 15 persons were taken into the church. Our pastor brou ght another soul stirring message at 8 p. m. The members taken into the church were given the right ’hand of fellowship and a very help ful and necessary talk by the pas tor. The rally spansored by the church reached its goal of $121.47. Rev. Bilbrew is sparing no |4ins in preaching the gospel. Sister Burton open ed the program with a special pray er, after which Mrs- Joseph Lew'is gave the Mother's Day address. The Freestone Mystery Four gave several numbers. Many won derful thoughts were brought to us through papers. Pai>ers were red by Mesdames L Sherman, Pin ky Oliver, Travis, M White and Miss Annie Oliver. Bell to Speak In South Omaha Rev- J. C. Bell, pastor of the Quinn Chapel A. M. E. church in Lincoln, Nebr., will be the guest speaker at Allen Chapel A- M. E. church in South Omaha at 3 p. m. on Sunday, May 30th, at which time the third quarterly meeting services of Allen Chapel will be held. Rev. Bell is a former pastor of historic Bethel A M. E. church of this city. He is well known in Oma ha, as well as throughout the en tire fifth Episcopal district Accompanying the Reverend will bo the famous choir of Lincoln, Nebr,, that was heard on a special radio broadcast two weeks ago over station KFAB. Rev. D. C- Stephenson of Allen Chapel dhurch stated a great ser vice was bejng planned for the vi sitors who shall come from Lin coln on the fifth Sunday. He is con fident a large crowd will be out to hear this great gospel minister Also the man who is acting leader of the district since the death of the Presiding Elder will be present. District Moderator presiding, closed a very successful meeting at Beulah Baptist church, Council Bluffs, la. on Sunday. There were representatives pre sent from three states, namely, Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Dignatarians present were States Moderator, Rev. George Robinson, Des Moines, la. District President, Mrs. Worden; District President, Rev. W. M. Clayton, pastor of the president of Women’s Work; and host church: Mrs. L. Griffin, vice all the staff officers of both the district and state convention in cluding the ministers of Omaha, Rev. Curry, Rev. Harris, Rev- Jones and Rev. Adams. Total offering for two days was $157.81. Eeveryone who attended the convention was in high praise of Rev. . M.
