SUNRISE GOLFERS
The Sunrise Golfers opened
the season of 1937 with >a de
lightful day of golf last Thurs
day at Miller Park. During the
business meeting that evening
at the Urban League Coinmun
ity Center numbers were drawn
for golf matches to be played be
fore the next meeting on May
14th, ia,t which time the scores
are to be brought in and record
ed. Since there is to be a prize
given to the one holding the
lowest score atl the end of each
month, very keen competition
is shown among the players.
The following officers were
elected and appointed :
Rae Lee Jones, president:
Delores Blackwell, vice pres;
Flora Morris, treasurer;
Edrose Willis, reporter.
Here’s hoping this wea'ther
clears up and gives us a break
on the golf links.

Old man defeat!
Girls don't let him get you

OK, but watch Mrs. Geraldine,
a new pitching star.
She can hit, run and eiaitch.
Girls there is an example of a
real ball player.
The slow ball, the Rabes gals
try to kill and just barely hit.
Not enough pep, too much
slow motion. We know “Baby
Ruth” just can't play anymore
—her day is gone with the wind
but the others we must find
out the trouble.
The Malashock team were
heavy hitters larcurate catchers
and very fast runners. They
placed a nice game. Better
news next time, I hope.

Mr. Carl Rabe was a speeta

was mu.ch disappoint ed with
the showing of the girls.
Donaldson and Payne, batter

even in defeat. Donaldson left
the game with ai score 2 to 1
in favor of Malashock, due to
slow fielding of Stewart and
Griffin who allowed singles to
go for a homer anda double.
The Rinbes are makng a poor

SPRING
The Alder by tIHe river
Shakes out her powdery curls;
Tho willow huds in silver
For little boys and girls.
t
The little birds fly over—
And oh, how sweet they sing—
To tell the happy children
That once again ’tis spring.
The gay green grass comes
creeping
Tho buttercups are coming
And scarlet columbine,
And in the sunny meadows
The dandelions shine.
And just as many daisies
As t)heir gpft hands can hold
The little ones may gather,
All fair in white and gold.
Here blooms the warm red clover
Tbero pf3eps the violet blue;
Oh happy little children,
God made them all for you.
