The average girl matches the boy for blinks,* but 12,000,000 words! The scientist is a man. -o A LITTLE GIRL AND HER SCRAP BOOK Uncle Gil’s representative went into the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Billingsley, 2613 Binney, Tuesday and there she found a little girl who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billing!fley and who was cjhri»tened by them Pearl Jane Billingsley. Little Pearl Jane, 2 years and 8 months old, upon being told what the Guidite Club stood for began to display why she should become the first member of said club by showing an over average amjpujit'fof intt‘llig>fnce. She immediately brought out her scrap book and proceeded to ex plain the meaning of each pic ture therein. Picture number one was that of Jesus Christ blessing little children; her assertion on this ► picture was that “Jesus loves all good children.” Number 2, was that of Paul preaching, to which she said “Paul wants all men to be good.” Number 3, was the picture of a little girl praying. Asked about this picture, her reply was that “all good girls pray to Jesus.” Number 4 was a portrait of Uncle Sam, to this she said “Uncle Sam’s flag will protect us all ” Number 6 was the picture of an outstand ing hum|ani8arian. Upon being Asked who this was she replied “the President.’ Number 6 was ian, her answer to this one was the picture of a second humanitar that is Lincoln who “used to be the president and got killed in a picture show.” Number 7 was the father of the qountry, to this she said that “he also was a president.” Number 8 the president and a lit tle girl, inquiring as to who this was she replied that is “the pre sident and his granddaughter.” Number 9 was the picture of an Watson Bros. Patton, Pastor Mrs. Mable Owens, Reporter The pastor, Rev. J. H. Pat ton, returned home from St. Louis on Friday morning.. The Pastor’s Aid Roy Contest was a great success. Little Charles Daniels won the prize of $5 00. The Pastor’s Aid, under the lead ership of Mrs. Mable Owens, met at the church Thursday evening. The weekly prize was won by Mrs. Nona Neal. The Missionary Society, under the leadership of Mrs. Nona Neal, met at the home of Mrs. Eddie Jones, on Monday evening at 430. The Willing Workers club, under the leadership of Mrs. Frances Woods, met at her home on Tues day evening at 4:30. Prayer meeting was well attend ed. The B- Y. P. U., under the leader ship of Mr. Timothy Jackson, meets every Sunday at 6:30 at the church. The Junior Mothers’ postponed the Fish Supper until a later date. The Trustee Board will have a chicken dinner on March 11th. Mr. Elder Owens is chairman. Bible Study lesson every Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Frances Woods The teacher is Mrs. Strong. The persons on our sick list are Mrs. Ethel Daniels, Mrs. SJanie Marshall and Mrs. Mary Butler. Mr. L- J. Malone is able to be around. The Sunday school was well at tended. Mr. Homer Zackery, supt. Mr- Alfred Owens has a new 1937 Packard. Mr- Elder Owens has been made salesman for the Robar Motor Co. He is selling new and used cars. The Sunday morning service was well attended. H Patton, pastor, Mrs. Mable Owens clerk. -o Recipes Broiled Tomatoes 6 Good-sized tomatoes 1 cup finely ground cooked chicken 2 tablespoons grated cheese Milk Salt Pepper Sprinkle flour over cooked chick en and add milk enough to moisten well. Heat in saucepan until thick ened. Cut tomatoes in half cross wise, spread with chicken mixture, sprinkle cheese on top. Put under broiler turned on half way. Rroil until lightly browned on top. Fried Tomatoes Slice firm unpeeled tomatoes. Dip in flour to which salt and pepper havo been added- Fry to a light brown on both sides: about five or six slices at a time, taking care not to break them- Remove from pan, pour in top and let come to a boil. Pour o'er tomatoes. Dr. Ross, her brother carried the body to Russell Spring, Kas., for burial. Ben Gray, 6221 So. 29th St., is on the sick list. Mrs. Smith Present* Program Mrs. Lola Smith presented a ery interesting program Sunday ev ening at the Seven Bay Advent church, 28th and l^ike St. in con nection with the Home and School! Ass’n. of the church. Mr. Allen B. Humphrey who i* the instructor of the church school served as master of ceremonies Te program was as follows; Bethel Sunday school glee club rendered the selection‘‘Bringing in the Wan derers.” A paper by Mrs. J. C. Newton “'Why a Christian Educa tion.” A vocal solo, “Beside the Still Waters,’ by Mr. J. F. Allison. Reading, ‘‘Young Peter,” by Elder Lightner. This was followed by an address by S. Edward Gilbert who took for his subject "The Relation ship of the Home to the School,” after which the children of the school presented a drama entitled “Kimona” wihich was highly re ceived by approximately 200 per son*. -o Rev. J. H. Patton, pastor of Mt Olive Baptist church, Sioux City, and Vice Moderator of the Iowa and Nebraska district of the Bap tist church was in town last week. Rev. Patton who is also vice pre sident of the National Baptist con vention wa« on his way to a re gional meeting of the convention being held in St. Louis. -o--— MRS. WARD IMPROVED Mrs. Ward who was burned quite severely last spring is improving very much under the watchful eye of Mrs. C. A. Jackson of 2616 Grant St. Although left an invalid from the misfortune she is now able to sit up in bed. RULES of THE GUIDITE CLUB -OBJECTS OF THE CLUB 1. You must be a regular render of The Omaha Guidie to be come n member of the Guidite Club. 2. Each member must send in interesting storieR and pictures. Write newsy letters and answer letters written to you. 3. Each member must show evidiencc to the club sponsor that he or she has written and received) ftt least two letters from members of the club before becoming eligible for the honor roll. 4. You must write neatly and only on one side of the paper, signing your name and address plainly at the bottom of the sheet. 5. Every member must read the interesting features on the Guidite Page in The Omaha Guide and discuss same at the weekly meetings. 6. You must extend the hand of fellowship to sister and, bro ther Guidites when they are seen with the Guidite card and button. 7. Each member must attend the weekly meetings of the Guidite Club or give a plausible excuse in writing from their parents. 8. You must go to bed each night with a Guidite smile and promise never to frown when Mother says go on an errand, wash the dishes or sweep the floor. 9.
