Smith of the School of Religion, Bishop college, Marshall, Texas, that “within the next en years he American will be forced o choose Christianity and Communism.” The audience was made up of representatives of every white Bap tist church in Chicago and vicinity, and was the annual meeting of the Missionary union of the Chicago Baptist ssociation, Mrs- C. Dean Smith discussed at length the present underpay and unem ployment which Negroes face in Chicago and America generally “The social injustices and slow starvation with which Negroes are familiar,” he said, “makes the Ne-| gro a shining mark for all kinds ofj radical propaganda.” “Communists promise bewildered j colored people friendship and help; j certainly we who cad ourselves! Christians dare not offer our Negro neighbors anything ess than this.
