Liberty Rub ber Glove Co„ Winona, Mnn. _- - THE CHUB OH OF OOD 2025 No. 24th Street Elder Robert L- Moody, Pastor Mr*. Edna W. Moody, Reporter The message of ast Sunday morn ing was doctrinal in nature. Its theme was "The Resurrection," and was the third under the general subject: “The Second Coming of Christ." No more effective words can be used than these: "And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain, yea and we are found false witness es of God. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are all men imwt miserable,” I Cor. 16:14 19. The thought for the evening was; “Christ In Vou.” It is one thing to know abtjt Christ and have Him with y«>ii, but n very different thing to have Him in you. When one has Christ in himself <>r herself, he or she becomes partaker of Christ’s life, nature, spirit, mind and image. Having all these, we replicas of His personality, i. e„ “members of His b"dy, of His flesh and of His bones.” We appreciate the presence "f visitors, tspeially th ministers Mrs. Ester Dixon and Elder Irvin. Unless inspired differently, the messages for Dec. 20th, will be: ‘The See<me thou with us. MT. MORIAH BAPTIST CHURCH 24th and Ohio Streets Rev. F. I*. CHURCH "The Friendly Church” Rev. R. A. Adams, Pastor In spite of the bad weather, the attendance at church and Sunday school were very good. The little ahildren's heart are running over with joy to know the Christmas season is so near at hand. Rev. Adams preached from St. Matthew, 4:6. He took as a sub ject, “Oast Thyself Down.” Some of the outstanding thoughts to be remembered from his sermon were: God does not cast anyone down, people cast themselves down. God puts the necessary things of life in the world and gives man an appetite, and man should be eon sierate of what he does. When man goes down, it is at his own will because neither God nor the devil cast him down. When one casts himself down, he has not tho faith in God. If he has the faith, he will hold on to God. The only life insurance is to have your sins forgiven, and we must be in tune with God to get the great blessings and needs he has in store for us. Th best of all was two fine young people joining the church. Ir the afternoon, the pastor and choii went to Bethel AME church to take part in their first uarterly meet ing was over, the choir went sign for Sister Jenkins, the moffiei of Mr. H. L. Preston. Prayer wa: also held. Sister Jenkins, who ha: been sick for some time seemed a great joy from the songs and prayers from the choir. The other sick of the church are Miss Grace Speese, Mr. George Alt house, and Mrs. Avant. The choir under the direction of Mrs. Pearl Gibson, will give its Christmas program, at 11:30 p m., the night of Dec. 24th. Please note this change in time. This pomises to be a very fine pro gram.
