If you prefer white or brown bread to crackers it should be cut to crack, r size. If toast is used in place of crackers for canapes fry them in olive oil —- The result is surprisingly pleasant! And potato chips can be another source of real enjoyment and di versity. If you serve canapes b - tore dinner two rounds will be suf ficient for your guests. The bottom of the saucepan should be covered with boiling water then add a very lit tle sugar, a dash of salt, the p as and several large lettuce leaves. The leave should cover the peas completely. Whip the cream and horseradish, salt, sug ar, lemon and onion juice. Mix well. It’s a humdinger! Inexpensive Oven Dish Select large baking apples. Remove the core and part of the pulp. Mix tho scoupped out pulp with saus age meat and season to taste with a little sage. Stuff this into th" apple cavities, sprinkle the apple with brown sugar, put them into a pan with a little water and bake until the apples nre tender. Mona Lisa Spaghetti—If you enjoy winding yards and yards around your fork then you’ll like this recipe. Cook two packages of Spaghetti for 10 minutes in fast boiling and well salt d water. Drain until every drop of water has dripped off. Mix in a bit of butter, put in dish and use this sauce. It’s the sauce that does the trick. One and one-haif table spoons m ltcd butter, one and one half tablespoon pure imported olive oil, two tablespoons finely chopped filet of beef. Simmer all tho ingredients to goth r until on ions are well browned. Put in contents of tomato sauce (juice won’t do). Let this simmer slow ly for about two hours adding consume or chicken broth continu ally. This ke.ps it at the same level. Water should never be added. Chicago, Nov. 23, (ANP) —In formation subsequent to the in quest recently held into the slay ing of Enoch Houser, 69-y.ar-old Tuskegee graduate,, now in the hands of Frank J. Loesch, chair man of the Chicago Crime Com mision, is expected to effect a sweeping investigation into meth ods used by the coroner’s office and the police department in in vestigating and prosecuting the case. At the inquest h Id two weeks ago, Jack Blackburn, 62, trainer of Joe Louis; John Bowman, Wil liam Parnell and Edward Ellis, held on charges of being partici-* pants in the street fight in which Houser, a n innocent passer-by, was fatally wounded, w re freed when the coroner’s jury under Deputy Coroner Benjamin A. Grant found that Houser had come to his death at the hands of “persons unknown.” Bruseaux Retained Attorney Joseph E. Clayton, Jr., counsel for Houser’s family, retained Sheridan A. Witnesses testi fied that 10 shots w re fired, one of which struck Mr. Houser who was walking down the street, and another which hit Lucy Cannon, a 9-year-old girl. However, police ofieers headed by Detectiv s Harold Colander and James Wolfe were unable to find any Negro Elected Pres. At Lincoln High Paul Beck, prominent Lin coln high school athelete, was elected by an overwhelming majority as president of the January class of graduates. This is the first time in the history of the school that a Negro boy has achieved such honors. Not only in the history of that school, but in the his tory of the middle west, a Ne gro boy has been so honored. Paul is a favorite among both the colored and white students because of his pleas ing peronaltiy.
