Paddock, who once held most of the sprint records, sees only Eulace Peacock of Temple as a sure bet to defend dash honors for the United States at the 1936 Olympiad. “I can see only Peacock as a cer tain performer at Berlin,” said Pad dock. “Pm afraid Ralph Metcalfe can’t hold up another year with that bad leg and I can’t help feeling Jesse Owens is pretty much burned out. “If Owens were to specialize on the 220-yard dash and leave the 100 and the low hurdles alone, he might figure. Certainly he can’t continue to run in three events and broad jump and make the grade. The Ohio State Boy is far too slow off the marks to do much good in the 100. I Illinois Approves Louis’ Next Bout Chicago, 111., July 11,—The Illinois state athletic commission Monday placed its approval on the date, site and price of tickets for the Joe Louis King Levinsky heavyweight fight scheduled for the night of August 7 at Comiskey park. Promoter Joe Foley posted a 20 thousand-dollar bond with the com mission, binding the match. Inas much as the commission demands a bond of 10 per cent of the antici pated gate receipts, it is evident that the ring board will expect the fight to draw at least 200 thousand dol lars. The ticket prices ranged from i $10 downward for ringside seats. ] /Joseph Triner, chairman of the commission notified Freddie Miller of Cincinnati, recognized as world’s featherweight champion, that if he failed to defend his title within 60 days it will be declared vacated.
