The Editor, The Omaha Guide, Omaha, Neraska. Dear Sir: Please permit me through the co lumns of your very valuable paper to express my opinion upon the signi ficance of the petition which is now being circuated in Nebraska and Oma ha in particular bearing on the idea as sponsored by Sentor Norris. Colored voters of Neraska should realize the very effective and efficient service which those members of our group who have been elected to repre sent us in the state legislature have rendered not only to their own poli tical constituents but to the whole state of Nebraska- To lose the ser vice and wisdom of our only represent ative at this crucial time would be a very severe blow to the progress of the colored citizens of the state of Nebraska Under the “Norris Plan,” petitions of which are now being circulated, we would have absolutely no chance of electing a colored representative to Lincoln Regardless of the merits of the plan as submitted by Senator Norris, the vital question arises, the services of our own representatives been of such benefit to us that we should continue them in office. I say yes- Under the Norris Plan we would lose this political asset- We surely cannot as sist in bringing bout this tragic sit uation 1'he colored citizens of Chicago have elected one of their own group to the Congress of the United States. Surely his services have, been resultant in much beneficial legislation in our interest- Can the colored citizens of Omaha afford to do anything less. DO NOT SIGN THE PETITION and we can keep a colored man in the state legislture, and our needs and desires will always have a defender on the job Yours truly William W- Peeples HIGHLIGHTS AMONG THE STUDENTS Edrose Willis, a very talented young lady, is considered a one of the best nfusia teachers of Omfeha- She is presenting a piano recital at the PUBLIX OMAHAS First Low Rate CAB CO Hillside Presbyterian church on June 3rd- Miss Willis is now taking a Post Graduate course at Central High Tech’s chief opponent this year in track was Central High, which was paced by Walter Rhc^&s, who is leading in the 100 and 220 yard dashes Juanita Yancy, Ada Lee .Walker, and Willa Mae Lynch remain very busy entertaining the variods Home Rooms at Tech by singing.
