There are Indications that this re markable experience is paralleled on a small scale with another disease which has caused much anxiety. Dr. Gaylord, of Buffalo, a leading Ameri can expert, has keen for years experi menting with mice. He inoculates them with malignant tumors and then treats them for recovery. However, he declares that he has noted at least 101 cases In which the mice shook off the trouble without any remedy what ever. This circumstance leads 'The Medical Record" of New York to cite an interesting statement about can cer in human subjects. It appears m an article by Drs Gaylord and Clowes in "Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics," for June this year. Four teen cases are there mentioned in which complete recovery without any help has been observed. Their observations of inoculated mice lead these writers to suspect that spontaneous cure may be more frequent in human beings than is generally supposed. The interesting feature of their report, however, re sides in the fact that there is, appar ently, sufficient warrant to continue the search for an anti-cancer serum. for the occurrence of a spontaneous recovery indicates that some force is present, or may be generated in the body, which is capable of terminating the disease.
