Kansas City, Mo.- Representative Charles A. Towne of New York, re sponding to a toast here at the Jef ferson Day banquet, went outside his set speech to eulogize William J. Bryan and to bitterly attack President Roosevelt. Both sentiments aroused the most intense enthusiasm, refer ence to the Nebraskan ending in a demonstration that amounted to an up roar. Mr. Ttowne did not refer to Mr. Bryan by name.
