THINK IT OVER. "Hellow, Mr. Farmer. What are you doing?" "Digging potatoes." "Have vbu anv to sell? "No." " "What are you going to do with them?" "I sort them into four piles." -"What do you do with them. "The big pile of fine potatoes you see over there I give to the landlord as land rent for the priv ilege of living on earth; next the biggest pile I give to the money lord as interest; the third pile I give to the poltieians as tax, and the little ones I give to the hogs, and what the hogs don't eat I eat myself. So, you see, between the landlord, the'mony lord, the poli ticians and the other hogs, I get my living." "But what do you do with the hogs?" "I give them to the railroad company for hauling the big po tatoes to the landlord and mone lord." Equity Farm Journal. FOUR YEARS OLD. The Iron City Trades Journal, published at Pittsburg, Pa., by Mr. Kelley, has begun its fourth year. Mr. Kelley has made a re markable success of a labor news paper printed in a community where graft has too often been the labor paper way of living. The Trades Journal has always been clean, and for that reason it has been antagonized in certain quar ters. But its merits have com manded recognition, and today it is being royally supported by thousands of union men who are only too glad to have an organ that is known to be square. Or ganized labor in Pittsburg, and throughout Pennsylvania, needs just such a fearless, upstanding organ as the Iron City Trades Journal, and we hope its editor, Mr. Kelley, will long continue "to direct its energies. 1 MOT A EIG SENSATION 1 MAYOR TOM BACK. Lovers of goqd government all over this country will repoice to learn that Tom L. Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio, has announced his intention to be a candidate for mayor of that city again next fall. For breadth of view, fearless cour age, strict honesty and unselfish devotion to the interests of the people no man in the land sur passes Mr. Johnson. The results achieved by him when he was in office before have been of sub tsantial benefit to his city directly and to other communities through the force of their example. We ardently hope he will be nomi nated and elected to the office again. Minnesota Union Advocate. CHILDISH IGNORANCE. A brother of President Taft is said to have sent $S.000 to Adams county. Ohio, in 190S to use for vote buying. Of course he didn't know it was to buy votes with. Tha ignorance of these million aires, as to what is done with their money is surprising. Portland Labor Press. The Big Purchase of David Adler & Sons' Clothing ena bles us to offer un usual Bargains. Here they are: $15 Suits & Overcoats, at $9.85. $18 and $20 Suits and Overcoats at $12.85. $22.50 and $25 Suits and Overcoats at $14.85. All of these except the 9.85 lot are hand tailor ed. Our regular stock is not included in this sale. We bought this bill below the wholesale price, and according to our invariable custom we are giving our patrons the benefit. We claim no big sensational effect for this sale. We merely give our custom ers the full benefit of a bargain we secur ed far along in the season. That is our regular custom giving our customers the benefit of everything possible. This ex plains why we never have a "bargain sale" such as are commonly advertised at the fag ends of the seasons. We make our bargain prices our original prices thus giving our customers the benefits that othr ers held off until the close of a season. Our original and only price is, generally, better than the belated "bargain" prices elsewhere. For instance, our spring lines will be sold in the spring at prices others will quote as bargains when fall comes. You can see the advantage you gain by availing yourselves of our system. Incidentally we again call your atten tion to the fact that we handle more Union Made Clothing, Shoes, Furnish ings, Etc., than any other store in this section. If it is made for mens wear byU nion Men anywhere, we 'II handle it. And we handle everything that Men and Boys wear. Cur "Bargain Prices" are always NOW not after the stocks are culled and the season over. Bear this j important fact in mind. SF R SI man 10tb & O Streets
