Manufacturers agreed in writing last summer to install a new boiler
and turbine engine by December 1st of the present year. They
failed to comply with the contract. Had they not failed our
power would have been ample.
The unprecedented rain and snow storms overloaded the
plant and one of our boilers was disabled. We were not to blame
for this accident.
When the Gas Company broke down in the flood of , 1 908,
and again during the subsequent storm, we took over their load at
once. , We have asked the Gas Company to reciprocate and
furnish us current. They offer us machinery which we cannot use
and refuse to supply us the' one thing we need electric current.
Connection to supply the current can be made in two hours time
as it was made to supply current to them during the flood of 1 908.
We started to string wires for' the connection and our workmen
were stopped by the Gas Company. It will assist us, if our
patrons will do their shopping between the hours of 9 a. m., and
4:30 p. m., thus relieving the overload near 6 o'clock.
The Lincoln Traction Company is doing its most to serve
the public. .
