Baer, candidate before the republican primaries for the nomination to the office of clerk of the district court. There are many reasons why The Wageworker desires to see Mr. Baer nominated. Without in any sense decrying the merits of other candi dates for that office. The Wageworker believes Mr. Baer to be the best qual ified. His experience in the office as a deputy has familiarized him with every detail of the work. His uniform courtesy has made friends of all who have had dealings with him. - He is making a clean canvas for the honor, leaving personalities and inuendo to others. He is a candidate solely upon his own merits. . Mr. Baer is not a member of any union for the simple flason that ha is not a craftsman. But his sympa thies are with unionism, ad he be lieves that every man should belong to the union of his craft. He under stands the underlying principles of trades unionism and gives them his unqualified approval. He is. relatel to the Carpenters' Union by ties of blood, his brother being a member of that organization. During his long residence in Lancaster county he has become acquainted with many work; inginen, and they are a unit in testi fying to his liberality, his readines; to help a man in distress, his lar; sympathy with their aims and objects and his unvarying courtesy and kind ness. He is no "fair weather friend but a friend at all times to those who really need friends. Mr. Baer has assured the public that if elected to the' office of clerk of the courts he will conduct the af fairs of the office In .such a way as to secure the maximum of service at the minimum of cost, and that he wili be clerk cf the district court and not a politician seeking to make the office an annex of his political party's ma chine. He is a staunch and unwaver ing republican. In every position he has occupied he has rendered satis factory service, and this is a guaran tee that his service as clerk of the courts will be satisfactory. Union men of .the republican faith who want to support a m,an who is friendly to their cause, and at the same time well qualified, could do no better than to support Mr. Baer at the primaries next Tuesday. Walter A. Leese, Deputy County Judge Candidate for County Judge My Platform Knowledge, ability and ex perience are the best qualifica tions for office. I am a candi date for county judge, asking for promotion from "deputy ship," on my own merits, and not in the interest of or in com bination with any other person or corporation; am familiar with every detail and require ment of the office; a lawyer with special training and wide experience in probate law' and practice; always a republican; as clerk of this court, book keeper, cashier and wage-worker, I devised and prepared all office reports which the grand jury examined and commended as "models, both in form and substance;" I was not an ap plicant for endorsement by the lawyers nor present at theii at their meeting; my compe tency was not submitted to nor passed on by them, therefore am not bound by their action nor barred from candidacy by their endorsement of another; preferring to submit my claims direct to the people; and con form to the letter and spirit of the primary law. My competi tors are my personal friends for whom I have the kindliest feel ings; my many loyal support ers feel that I should receive this nomination because they believe I deserve it and' am "worthy and well-qualified." As clerk, I have filed and prepared for record 1,256 new probate cases in seven and one-half yaars, as against 2,238 cases in the previous thirty-two years. Consider ing this experience, the growth of both county and this office, whose work must be kept up, if successful, I shall practice the strictest economy and shall ask for only sufficient competent help to assist me to perform its duties properly, and give to every one "a square deal." Being unable to make each a personal visit, kindly accept this as such and as my request for your support September 3d. ' WALTER A. LEESE. FOLLOW.
