irls. 6,948.825 married, and 1,087,583
widows. How are we to reconcile this
discrepency ? 201,861 more wives than
husbands.
The New York Ledger states thnt at
tho funeral of a relative, N. P. Willis
and his sister, Fanny Fern, recently met,
and recognized each other for the first
time in seven years.
Lixijctox. The assessment of the
city of Lexington, Ky., just complejed,
shows there are 8246 inhabitants a de
crease of 606 population since last year.
The total valuation of properly is S4.138,

day at Coloiua, California, with $114 in
pold, which was in the pocket of the shirt.
The minuter gives up the shirt as "done
gone," but hopes to recover his gold.
