School, of this city, on last Sunday:

A Tioneer Bible Class was also form
ed, and the Rev. Mr. Hamilton elected

In connection with this, we are proud
to say, that there is not a spot upon this
beautiful and extended Territory that an
boast of as good morals as the city of
Bellevue. No drunken loafers disgrace
our streets, and make night hideous with
their bachamdian orgies, but all is peace,
quietness and security.
We ore glad to see our young ladies
and gentlemen take an interest in forming
Sunday schools ami Bible classes; it will
improve them . socially and intellectually,
and fit them to fill the different spheres in
which they may be called to act in life's
drama, with higher aspirations and nobler
views.

Something Tfew.
Messrs Schimorsky & Botes have
opened a Lithographing and Engraving
establishment in this city, Office at the
old Trading It, near the wharf. Mr.
Schimonsky received the premium and
medal at the last Missouri State Fair, for
the best specimen of Lithographing. He
is a practical Topographical Engineer,
and is capable of making Maps and Plats
without previous drafts, provided he is
furnished with a description or field notes,
better than any living Surveyor in Oma
ha. See advertisement in another column.
The Steamers.
The Steamers from St. Louis, on the
Missouri River, are coming thicker and
faster. Since our last issue, eight steam'
boats goinsr up the River have landed at
our wharf, all loaded down with passer
cers and freip-ht. The following are
their names and date of passing up:
June 4th, the D. A. January and New
Monongahela ; 6th, John Warner and
Edinburgh; 6th, Omaha; 7th, Emma;
9th, Twilight and J. H. Oglesby. '
We have had this season, thus far,
forty-eight arrivals of steamboats as
many as arrived last year, up to the 11th
of August This fact alone Fpeaks vol
umes in regard to the prosperity of the
lerntory of Nebraska.
The editor of the Wring and Twist,
aays he has seen the contrivance which our
lawyert use to " warm up with their subject.-
He merely says, " It's a glass con
cern, and holds about a pint."

Entering Town Sitet.
The following correspondence will show
that the act of the last Legislature of ths
Territory, designating the County Commis
sioners as lite proper persons to enter Town
Sites, is not recognized by the Commissioner
of the Land Office.
It is a question of doubt whether the Judges
of Probate, or the United Mates Judges, can
be regarded as "Judges of the County Court."
As soon as that doubt is removed, notice will
be given. In the mean tiro no entering of
towns not Incorporated can be made.
A copy of the act of the last Legislature
will be placed iu tbe bands of .tbe Commis
sioner, and, under ths circumstances, tb en
