Platte River Ferry.
Persons traveling up and down the
western bank of the Missouri river, will
find a good and reliable crossing on the
Tlatte river, at Carlyle'a and Bennett's
Ferry, at the foot of Cedar Island. By
taking this route, you save crossing the
Missouri river twice, and also save about
fifteen miles travel, and in addition, have
a better road, safer and more expeditious
crossing, and no extra ferriage. "A

Reputation.
The influence or popularity of men al
ways depend upon their reputation. Mer
chants who sell inferior articles at high
er prices than they can be purchased
at elsewhere, and thus take advantage of
the unsuspecting, may continue their dis
honorable traffic for a time, but it is
, eventually discovered, and they soon get
a bad reputation. On the other hand,
those who sell their articles at a fair
profit, and never take advantage in any
resnect. soon pets a crood reputation, like

our friends, Messrs. Palmer fit Aver
ltt, who have lately opened the "Bells
' vue Store," cn the corner of Jefferson
' and 27th street opposite the Fontenelle
Bank. Their slock is new and fresh,
and we judge from having priced a nura
ber of their articles that they intend to
aell cheap for cash. They deal upon the
principle that a " nimble sixpence is worth
more than a slow drilling. Look at
their advertisement in another column,
and call and try thern.
Enterprise.
We are pleased to note the various im
provements which are now being made
in the erection of new buildings in this
city. Mr. Jennings, an enterprising
citizen of this place has now in course of
erection, and will finish, at least twenty
" buildings this season. This is doing bis

other citizens who have the means, pos-
aessed a portion of the energy and busi
ness attainments of Mr. Jennings, the
beautiful plateau upon which the city is
located, would present quite a different
" aspect in the course of another year.

Tuesday. We understand he is going to
anend the summer in this Territory. Glad
