Washington, April 17 —The post of living continues to rlimh, wholesale prices of foodstuffs being 714 per rent higher in Marrh than they were a year ago, the Hepartment of Labor an bounced today. While some commodities sveraged lower In price In ‘March than In February, the general average was slightly higher. Fresh Foods Advance. Principal advances were noted In fresh foods, such as meats, butter, fruits, which were offset in part by slight declines in eggs, flour, etc. The net increase for the group was 1>4 per cent. Jobs also were less plentiful, the Tip partment of Labor announced. While employment In manufacturing Indus tries Increased 1 per cent in March over February, It was 4 per cent lower than March a year ago. Based on reports front 9.000 estab lishments in 52 industries covering 2.808,019 employes, whose tptal earn lngs during one week in March were $75,422,103, the aggregate earnings of employes Increased 1.8 per cent, while I the per capita earnings increased 0.9 per cent. ' Kinploympiit Gain. The fertiliser Industry showed the largest employment gain amounting to 40 per cent.
