SPECIAL POSTIL SERIIIGEAPHIL IS * Special Handling Parcels to Be Delivered as First Class Mail. The special handling parcel post service will become operative April IB, «s provided by the postal bill recently signed by President Coolldge. The new service is not a special delivery service, according to Post master diaries E. Black, unless the special handling stamp Is accompanied hy a special delivery stamp. Special handling parcels will be handled as first class mail. As first class mail matter a 12 pound parcel Intended for delivery at Denver the following day would cost 13.84 in addition to the special de livery fee. By the special handling parcel post service the same parcel could be sent to Denver for 53 cents and receive special handling for an additional 25 cents, and special delivery service for an additional 20 cents, making a total of 98 cents postage. JOYRIDES LEAD _ Youths Sentenced for Stealing Autos for Thrill of jp Driving. .Toy rides led (Jerald Epperson, 16, 1326 Pleasant street, and Lyle Schu man, 15, 1023 Eighth avenue. Council Bluffs, to the reformatory at Eldora, la., Tuesday morning. The boys ad mitted to Judge J. L. Blanchard that the thrill they obtained from joy rid ing led them to steal three automo , biles for that purpose. They were arrested Sunday night by Council Bluffs police, who found them in possession of a car belonging to John Haenan, Dumfries, la. The youths Implicated Lloyd De Long, 17, llalnbow Inn, Manawa, who was later arrested. Judge Blanchard took De Ijong'a case tinder advisement upon t he plea of his father that he could handle the boy If Lloyd were paroled to him. Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Riechart, the parents of young Schuman, and Mr. and Mrs. C. O. C.. next July. Two Hurt When Auto Hits Ditch'Diggiug Machine J. Jerremiason, 1310 Seventh ave nue, Council Bluffs, and his com panion, Mary Keating, Omafia, were Injured slightly Monday night when Jerremiason is alleged to have driven his automobile into a ditch-digging machine parked at Thirty-third street and 6roadway. The automobile was tjadly damaged. Jerremiason was taken to Mercy hos pital, where his cuts were dressed, snd then to police station, where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The woman was attended at the office of Dr. Kelley and taken home. Tourist Camp Grocer Must Close on Sundays ’ The city council Tuesday morning rejected a request from City Com missioner J. B. Hummel, that M. F. Rledman, grocer at the tourist auto' ramp In Elmwood park, be allowed to keep his store open on Sundays. "You sre asking for a permit to allow a man to violate the law,” said Commissioner if. W. Dunn. “Thes* auto tourists have to eat on Sunday as well as other days," said Hummel. Sidney, la., March 30.—Mrs. Zona Metelman, one of the principal owners of the First National ltank of Sidney, died at her home here today. She had been ill for several weeks with double pneumonia. Her survivors are her son, Charles, 4; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Nichols; her sisters, Miss Gladys of Sidney, Mrs. Alfred DeMean and Mrs. Knott of West Liberty and a brother, Phineas Nichols of West Liberty. Iowa Youth, 11, Held for t Theft of Alderman’s Car Frederick Miller, 11, who lives north ofi Big Lake, was taken In custody by juvenile authorities of Council Bluffs Monday morning, charged with stealing the automobile of Thomas Shannon, former Council Bluffs alderman, a week ago. The boy drove the machine about Iowa for eight days, It is charged, and was arrested when he returned to his home Monday morning. Judge J. L. Blanchard of Juvenile court took the case under advisement. Frederick is only four feet tall and attends tse first grade at school. Most of the cancers the surgeons see are well advanced for surgery.
