It. (iROII. An intrepid band of Boy Scouts, confronted by a yawning chasm, 30 feet wide and 4,000 feet deep, as they explored the trackless wilderness in the City auditorium last night, promptly threw a suspension bridge across ihe chasm in plain sight of the audience and using no other tools than their trusty axes and the tim bers of the forest. Meanwhile another hand erected a comfortable one loom lean-to (without bath) to protect them from the rain and cold. Thus did the pioneers defy nature* and the elements as they pushed fearlessly onward. It was the annual rally-circus of the Boy Scouts. If you missed It this year don’t fall to see it next year. e Oh the enthusiasm of boyhood! How boy-antly the various troops put on their drills and exhibitions and played their games! Five-King Performance. Five events were going on simul taneously during the evening. While a troop In one ring was making coat stretchers to carry off two of Its In jured members other troops in the adjoining rings were giving signal rtaill or doing calisthenics or playing “horse and rider’’ or "baste the bear." And the clowns! There were 15 of them. The first to appear was a youth in flowing pants, short tailed coat and high hat. Commissioner John Welch’s Herman police dog de cjded this must he a crook and barked loudly at him, to the great delight of the scouts and about 3,000 other boys and girls who were in the balcony. The rest of the clowns burlesqued the acts or slood solemnly in front of the Seventeenth infantry band while It rrashed out a stirring num ber, and then bowed to the applause. “Airplanes" Fill Auditorium. The wait for the show to start was filled In by the jtrvenlle section of the audience with applauding and whis tling until one Ingenious youth made an “airplane" of his program and sailed it majestically from the high \ BRIEF CITY NEWS '| I Mheehy in Hospital—Patrick flheehy.
