Spears Invents
New Stvle Pants

Believes He Has Improved
Method of Padding
Knees.
Morgantown, V". Ya., March 11.—
"Pop” Spears, veteran football coach,
who crowded Into the limelight some
years ago and has remained there
ever since by turning out gridiron
teams at West Virginia university
comparable with the best in the coun
try, is today In the same class with
Thomas Edison, Marconi and the
Wright brothers.
That Is, Spears lias entered the
ranks of Inventors by designing a
radically new style of football pants,
declared by many to suit ideally the
needs of the gridiron performer.
"Pop" is quitp an accomplished
young man, and his advent into the
exclusive ranks of inventors merely
adds anotlirr mark to his string of
achievements. Although he is famed
for his knowledge of football and his
uncanny ability to weld a lot of raw
recruits into a formidable gridiron
machine that during the season be
comes widely heralded as "the strong
mountaineer eleven," Spears by no
means is dependent on his com king
prowess for his meals and lodging.
Spears is a physician, and, accord
ing to his friends, a mighty good one.
He is also a surgeon and can ampu
tate a limb nr carve the human body
with the ease and dexterity of n
hutcher skilled in slicing off 15*4
ounces of meat when a pound is
called for.
"Pop” alsit can fill prescription*
with unerring accuracy and owns a
large and flourishing drug store.
And when it conies down to keen,
cold, practical, sound business judg
ment, Spears is "there" with the alert
judgment of one of Ills quarterbacks
befuddling the enemy on the gridiron
by raucously barking signals with
the dreaded “Spears’ shift" appended
in a menacing tone.

Here's what one enthusiast writes:
Chicago, 111., 112 24
A year ago I was almost bald. I now have a nice growth of hair due
to constant use of Vsn Ess. After trying everything else, without suc
cess, I purchased a bottle of Van Ess at Buck 8s Rayner's.
It gives me great pleasure to inform my friends that Van Ess has
been the cause of restoring my hair. I believe that anyone who uses
Van Ess as religiously as I have will be benefited.
People with scalp trouble should make Van Ess a daily habit because
it keeps the scalp clean, removes dandruff and makes the head feel glad.
