Pit Notes.
Fluctuations in the wheat pit were
rapid. The tickets and the blackboards
worn behind In quotations at Intervals
it*.ring the fore part of the session. Out
side buying was broad (luring the first
few hours, but It failed to follow' the
advances. Much of the selling of wheat
Liter in the session was credited to local
and outside professionals In the way of
taking profits. Winnipeg showed h. rela
tively steady undertone compared with
t * ll i« ago at the last.
' Private experts issued their reports on
farm reaerve* and they came as expect
ed Stocks of wheat on the farms were
placed at from 112.600.000 to 1 17,000.000
bushels, with total stocks In the visible,
country mills and elevators and on the
farms estimated at 263.000.000 to 276.
<100,000 bushels. Deductions made by
H W. Snow, crop expert, were aenaa -
tlonslly bullish as to the amount of
wheat left for export and carry over.
He figured that consumption at home
from March 1 to June 30 would total
194.000. 000 bushels, and after allowing
30.000. 000 bushels for spring seed require
ments. estimated that 62,000.000 bushels
of wheat remained In all positions as nf
March 1 for export and carry over. The
essence of this report was lost sight of
by the trade. The domestic visible supply
for the week decreased 1,915.000 bushels
end totals 70.677.000 bushels, compared
with 64.072.000 bushels a year ago.
The supply of wheat and flour on the
ocean for the week Increased 3,620,000
bushels. The gain wan much smaller,
than looked for. In view of the heavy
world shipments. The previous week,
when World shipments totaled 18,993.000
bushels, stocks on the ocean Increased
1 1.000,000 bushels. Last week’* world
shipments were about as large, totaling
13.83 4,000 bushels It Is apparent that
Kurops Is consuming the great bulk of
the wheat headed that way and this
suggests a sustained foreign demand In
the world market.

finish today It was the same story ns to
tin* stock market. Most securities went
to higher prices. There was no halt or
reaction. A considerable number of is
sues established record high prices. The
rolls were very strong. Only the St. J'aul
issues were conspicuously weak.
Again the oils were the market leaders,
with Uan.AtuerWan beading the group.
The steels were less prominent than,
usual Some of the lesser corporations!
specializing In particular kinds of *teel
production made large gains. United
States Stce| moved within very narrow
limits, a 11 hough strong at sli stages ot
the session.

At Chicago, after an early show of
weakness, the bulls made a vigorous ef
