by Marks still stands on the ranch

GROANING GHOST
REALLY IS HOAX
There Is no groaning ghost wander
ing in the former dwelling of J. War
ren Hahne, 3337 South Twenty-third
street. In spite of a story a few days
ago that a milkman had frantically
summoned the police at 4:30 a. ni. to
look after the shadowy wanderer
about the premises where the hatehet
hacked body of Mrs. J. Warren Hahne
was found several weeks ago.
The mystic milkman was found in
the person of Ruel Gould, Twenty*
third and D streets, who pilots a
wagon for Roberts dairy. He stated
he never even mentioned the Hahne
house in his report to police.
The newspaper's shrieking state
ments that nearly all the Hahne
apartments have been deserted by the
tenants was refuted by N. M. Graham,
special administrator in charge, who
says all are occupied except one.

SEEK DIVORCES
Three wives sued for divorce in
Bluffs district court Saturday. Anna
Starrett declares in iter petition that
Lloyd Starrett hi a treated her so
badly that she has lost much weight.
They were married in 1013 and sepn
rated in August, 1023.
Luella Hager says her husband,
Charles, nagged her. They were mar
ried last October 2S.

and abused Iter and left her several
months ago. She asks for their house
hold goods and custody of their

30 BOGUS CHECKS;
TWO MEN ARE HELD
Harry Nelson, 5212 Center street,
and H. E. Dufran, ltiOS Burdette
street, are held in South Omaha jail
for investigation in connection with
the floating of about 50 bogus checks,
which were taken by automobile tire
stores, furniture stores and other
places in payment fur merchandise.
The owner of tlie Ak-Sar-Ben tire
shop said tivo men bought two tires
and gave a S3n check in payment. He
said they went out and sold the tires
and then he discovered the check
was worthless.
41 NEW MEMBERS
IN RAINBOW POST
Forty-one new volunteer members
were enrolled in Rainbow post No. 2
of the American Legion Friday night
following a joint meeting of the
legion and auxiliary, which was fea
tured by an address by Ben Webster,
state commander. This increased the
new membership roll to more than
300 veterans. It is planned to con
tinue llie drive until a goal of 1,000
is reached.
Athletic Club Dance.
The Bellevue Athletic club will give
a dance tonight in the Bellevue court
house. Special prizes will be given.
