Two burglaries, two automobile theft* and several holdup* have been admitted by Victor Nelson, 2032 Grand avenue, and L. C. Couts, who were arrested by Motorcycle Officers Cleghorn and Gaines early Friday after tlie officers had stopped them by gunfire. The admission* made by the two men involved Mike Stevens, 2 til 7 Fouth Thirteenth avenue, who was attested later. The three ate held for Investigation. James Nicholson, 2025 Maple street, and Charles Miller, 2614 North Sixteenth street, were arrested in connection with the same robberies Friday afternoon, by Detectives David*. Farmer, Knglish and Ryan. Nicholson is charged with being an accessory after the fact, and Miller I*, charged with receiving stolen prop | ' Police (Jive Chase. Officer ( leghorn and Gaines found the men seated in a car near Thir tieth and Stabler streets at 3 a. m. Friday. As the officers approached the men drove away rapidly and the officers pursued them. After a chase of a few blocks, the fugitives’ car ran into a telephone pole and Nelson and Touts leaped out and fled. Officer Cleghorn opened fire, and Couta fell. Nelson escaped. Coutt wa* found to be unhurt, but he gave information which enabled the offi cers to attest Nelson Inter at hi* home. Admits Auto Stolen. ('outs and Nelson admitted that the <*hi which they had been driving was stolen Thursday from C. F. Cox, 22J7 Mouth Thirty-second street. They also admitted stealing another car two weeks ago, and robbing two drug stores and two groceries In Minnei l,us* and near Kim wood park within, the last two week*. They declared | Stevens had told them what store*| to rob, and had disposed of the loot.i Stevens is said by police to have, served a term In the penitentiary for robbery at Tekamuh. According to polic e, Nicholson a I lowed Couts and Nelson to use ids1 car in which to haul away their loot., Miller is charged with pure-having quantity of soap, cigars, and other articles stolen In the burglaries. JURY IS GIVEN INSURANCE CASE The suit of Mr*. Mamie Hatlen of Sidney, la., who Is asking $10,000 from (he Mutual Life Insurance company of New Vork for Ih* death nf her husband, was given to a Jury In fed eral dialrlrt court In t'otincll Bluffs shortly hefore noon Friday. Mrs. Batten la asking the $10,000 on an Insurance policy held by her hus hand. Iler husband was found tlead In hi* bed In December. IDL’.I, with a gun In hi* hand, lie had been shot through the forehead. The Insurance company paid $10,000 for hla death, but Mrs. Il.itten claimed that she should receive the second $10,000 tin der s clauf# which provided for dun hie Indemnity In case of accidental death. Bodv of Man Is > j Found Hanging p p Under Viaduet Victim Had Climbed Upright, Tied Rope in Beam, Placed Head in Noose. The body of a man believed to be William Redpath, 6.1, wa* found swinging In the heavy fog under the Sixteenth street viaduct Friday morn ing. The man had climbed one of the uprights and tied the rope to a beam and then placed his head In the noose. He had misjudged the length of the rope and hi* toe* dangled on the ground, but the attempt at suicide was successful and the man liad been dead several hours when his body wa* found. The body was found by Jra M. Lyons, 806 South Eighteenth street, who culled police. Detectives found a Notebook in In the man's pocket, in scribed "William Redpath, 1112 Dodge street " This Is the address of the old Salvation Army hotel where at tendants said Redpath had stayed oc casionally. He is said to have done odd jobs at different homes and of fices. The body wus taken to Swanson'* mortuary. Redpath has no known survivors.
