YOUR PROBLEMS I
v_I
A Mother's Experience.
Dear Miss Allen: I am a constant
reader of your column, and last eve
ning I read "Young Mother's” letter.
It brought back memories of my own
experience and l wonder If by telling
tny story I might help her to decide
her problem.
I married the man I loved, and two
years later a darling baby girl came
to crown njy happiness, for I was
then happy: I had a lovely home and
all I wanted.
My husband owned his business and
was making good, but after baby
came he did not seem the same. He
was seldom home and was cross snd
Ill-tempered when he was. Gossip
soon told me the cause. Another wo
man was winning him from his home
and hahy. and I told him I would
leave hint with the hahy, hut he only
laughed at me, and oh, MIsa Allen,
how It hurt me, for I still loved him.
A few months passed and I could
atand it no longer, ao I wrote him a
nice letter, left It on the table and
walked out of my once happy home.
I went to a city far away and went
to work, but 1 was miserable. I
cried for my baby and would wake
up in the night thinking I heard her
cry for me. I never wrote home to
find out how she was. I thought, that
In time I could forget, hut I could
not, and one year from the day I left
my home I went hack to find m.v
baby. Mv folks had taken her. and
oh, the joy I found holding her to
my heart once more.
My husband was a different man;
he was repentant and heartbroken:
he had elosed our home the night he
found me gone, and everything was
as 1 had left It. He said his love was
mine, that It was only Infatuation he
had for the other woman. (That Is
my story. Miss Allen.) I spent a
year of misery—that seemed like ages
Toung mother, stay with your babies;
do not leave them, for maybe you
could not come back to your home s$
I did, and those babies are worth more
than any man's love.
I am happy again now, and, young
mother, you will find your reward if
you stand by those babies.
My letter Is long. Miss Allen, hut It
may help some one.
A MOTHER WHO KNOWS.
No Cause to Worry.
Perplexed: From your husband s
point of view he Is doing nothing
wrong. His recreation Is quite harm
less in my opinion and will not lead
to anything worse. At least you
have no cause to worry now and are
making a great mistake in opposing
him so strenuously and forcing him
to disregard your wishes In the mat
ter. When he goes away for an eve
ning every three or four weeks, you
ought to be very grateful that he
does not return to you drunk and
that tt la every three or four weeks
and not every night that he leaves
you.
Bride to Be: Have your dining
room lighted with candles. There is
always mystery add beauty in candle
light. I'se a beautiful bouquet In the
center of the table, pink roses, if
your color scheme is pink.
A light white cake Is preferable for
a wedding cake. *
If you are taking a trip, a travel
Ing suit with a chic hat and smart
gloves and shoes, with a colorful cor
sage, would make a pretty wedding
costume, especially for this time of
year. But if you are having a large
wedding, I think the white gown
would he my choice.
By all means take the trip Instead
of staying at home for a dance.
Daisy Doll: The Pepper Pot club
Is composed of a group of girls who
have been friends for a number of
years. There are only eight mem
hers. Capes are always worn, more
or less, but the three-piece suit is
more fashionable now than the cape.
