Shelton, Neb., Deo. St.—With both
feet and one aide of hlo face frozen
and In a fatigued condition, Morris
Steinke, 40, and single, who has been
an inmate of the etate hospital at
Ingleslde the last year, arrived at his
home, eight miles north of Shelton,
to spend Christmas with the family.
He escaped from the hospital about

saw Stelnke walking along the road

ing under great difficulty. They say
he was nearly two hours going the
last mile.
Authorities at the hospital tele
phoned that the man w’as missing and
wanted to know If he had returned
home.
Stelnke came home Thanksgiving
without leave to spend the day with
relatives and when authorities dls
^^coyered he had again escaped, they
supposed he was headed this way.
Stelnke was formerly engaged In
farming several miles north of Shel
ton. About a year ago he suffered a
nervous breakdown and was commit
ted to the state hospital.

Man Poses as Woman to Trap ’Loggers
Above are two vlewa of City Marshal John E. Parker of Gloucester, Maas.,
who posed for a year as a woman in a campaign against bootleggers through
out the New England states. His feminine wardrobe was complete to the last
detail, and the "blonde vamp" lured sscores of bootleggers to prison sentences.
Occasionally, he fooled even the members of his own staff.
At the left, Parker is shown as “Sally," under which name he was known,
and at the right he is posed with a bootlegger’s whisky container, showing
how they transport their stock in trade.
