Docek al, old resident of Wymore, has fresh green lettuce, radishes, celery and on ions in her garden on the back of the lot at her ho'me, and it appears that she will still have them on Christmas day. The lettuce and radish beds are exposed to the sunlight each day, but are carefully protected when there IS no sunlight. This is done by a covering of burlap sacks, sewed to gether to form a sheet, which 1s spread over the vegetables on a frame of upright stakes stuck In the ground at intervals throughout the bed. This affords protection and does not crush down the growing vegetables. The celery is protected, and bleached at the same time, by a wrap ping of each plant with newspapers and each row sided up with a 12-Inch board.
