n 1 BANK DO _ESCAPES Posse Scours Country Near Superior for Bandit Who Picked Jail Lock. Special Dispatch to The Omaha Bee. Superior, Neb., Oct. 20.—Herbert Holmes of Stubenvllle. confined In the Nuckols county Jail at Nelson under sentence of 10 years In prison for robbing the Bostwlck State bank, west of here. September 19, escaped Sunday evening. A sheriff’s posse Is scouring the country this morning. Holmes is said to have used a wire from his bunk and his porkct knife, aided by a small mirror, to pick the lock of the cell door. Holmes seriously cut and beat an other prisoner, Roy Star, who was confined In the cell, and bound him to further his escape. The sheriff and his wife were away from the premises. Holmes was captured at Superior with nearly $1,500 two days after the robbery. He was being held at Nelson until room could be made for him at the state penitentiary. To National Convention. Harry A.
