t—- - > South Omaha ' Man Near Death From Auto Crash Victim of Early Morning Ac cident Still Semi Conscious. Hoy Johnson, 4S0!> S street, is In a highly critical condition at Nicholas Kortn hospital ns a result of injuries received at 1 a. m. Saturday when the car which he was driving col lided at Thirty-sixth and Leavenworth streets with a car driven by Wesley RUlell, negro, 2522 Patrick avenue. Johnson suffered a concussion of the brain and has been in a semi-con scious condition since the accident. Dr. C. H. Newell, his attending phy sieinn, said that his chances for re covery are small. Johnson, a packing house employe, was unidentified for several hours after the accident. Ridell, driver of the other ear, told police that he had been driving east on Leavenworth when Johnson's car started across the intersection on Thirty-sixth street. Ridell said he did not see Johnson's cor in time to stop. Ridell was severely bruised and was also taken to Nicholas Senn hospital, hut left for his home a few hours later. Dora Redd, negro, 2638 55 street, riding with him, was also taken to the hospital, but was found to be suffering only from shock. Gib O’Connor, 2526 Wirt street, third oc cupant of the car. was unhurt. SIX CLASSMATES AS PALLBEARERS Funeral services for George Bilek 18, who was killed in an automobile accident on Thursday, will he held Saturday at 2:30 p. m. at the home of his mother, Mrs. Frank Bilek. 5838 South Twentieth street, and at St. Agnes church at 3:30. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery. Six classmates of the youth from Assumption school will act as pall bearers. Six young women from the same school will be honorary pall bearers. CRASH VICTIM’S SERVICES HELD Funeral services fur John D. Alex ander, 3345 Meredith avenue, who died Wednesday of injuries received in an automobile accident, were held Saturday at in a. m., at the Duffy & Johnson funeral home. Rev. WOMAN EATS JAP INCENSE Swallowing incense is the neweet wrinkle in suicide attempts. .South Omaha police were called Friday night to the home of Mrs. Dayton Lew-in, negro, 4713 South Tjventy-sixth stheet, and found her 1 ii\ an unconscious condition. After emergency treatment had been given | litji. she admitted she had swallowed a mmntity of a greenish powder. Officers sniffed at the remains of the powder in the box. and announced that it was Japanese ineense. The powder did not seriously harm the woman. MAN SLIGHTLY HURT IN CRASH Ed Lynch, 2306 T street, was se rarely cut and bruised when the car in which he was riding collided with I another car at Twenty-fourth and W streets. Friday night. Lynch was ilyown through the windshield of the car. L. W. Hinkel, driver of the car in which Lynch was riding, was arrest ed on charges of drunkenness and reckless driving. The driver of the other car, John Lambert, 4542 South Seventeenth street, was not held. BANDIT FOUR ROBS OMAHAN Frank C. Kennedy, 6023 South Twenty-seventh street, was held up Fridsy night st Twenty-seventh and S streets by four men who robbed him of $18.50, he told police. The four men were In an automo bile, Kennedy said. Two men in the car covered him with pistols while the other two searched him.
