Women of County Organize 75 Pledge Selves to Work for Coolidge and Dawes in Campaign. A Coolidge and DaweB club waa or ganized by the republican women of Douglas oounty at a meeting held Tuesday afternoon at ths Roms hotel. Mors than 75 women pledged them selves ss members to work in the •omlng Campaign. Mrs. L. M. Lord, a chairman of the Douglas county republican committee, was elected president of the club by unanimous vote and Mrs. P. C. Hyson, vice chairman, was elected secretary of ths club. Women who are ward chairmen of county districts were made vice presidents. John L. Kennedy, who was prin cipaltspeaker of the afternoon, urged the women to take an active interest in the franchise right by not only pleading with neighbors to get out and vote, but to go along with them to the polls. "It is more important to get the women out and Interested than to get them to ‘vote right,’ ” said Mr. Kennedy. "Those of you who take an intelligent interest in politics realize the Importance of this. Women were born with the in herent right to vote as well as men. All the men did was to get out of the way and let you exercise your God-given privileges. If you pick women for offices they can fill them." O. E. Engler, chairman of the Douglas county republican commit tee, and A. V. Shotwell, prominent republican worker, also spoke. Maj. M. A. Palen spoke on Defense day. Joseph Marrow, in charge of organization of a men's Coolidge and Dawes club, also spoke. Harry S Byrne gave the closing talk of the meeting.
