The South Side Merchants’ asso ciation went on record as opposing tile wh»el tax ordinance in tts appli cation to suburban motorists at a special meeting held Friday night. A delegation was appointed to ap pear before the city council Monday and urge -lodiflcntlon of the ordi nance. According to Thomas Shea, secre tary of the association, suburbanites are threatening to boycott Omaha merchants. A large part of South Omaha trade is with persons living . 23 and "0 miles out of the city. A special meeting of the ways and means committee of the association will lie held Monday night and final arrangements made for the organiza tion's picnic and barbecue August 27 at Riverview park. A committee was appointed Friday night to buy an auto, electric washer and radio set to be given as major prizes at the outing. JOE LIBERALWITH ILL-GOTTEN CASH Joe Zywicz, 11, was generous with his ill-gotten money. In juvenile court Saturday, eight boys testified that he gave them sume varying from ' BO cents to $3.50 each “to go to shows and buy candy.” Joe, whose mother is serving three months In jail on a bootlegging charge, lives at 4618 South Twenty seventh street. With two small com panions, Joe Jasick and Paul Zurek, he admitted breaking Into the store of Mrs. Paul Kuta, 4632 South Twen ty seventh afreet twice and stealing a total of $107.
