commission house selling was on tap. but
the character of the buying, credited to
exporters, tended to engender a more
« i'eerful feeling all around. Export sales
from Chicago were confirmed at 625.000;
bushels, while there were rumors that
around 1.000,000 bushels were taken.
Weather conditions over the corn belt
me becoming very favorable, and with
the crop late the trade Is alive to the
Possibilities of a much shorter crop than
lips been indicated. Cash corn was in
good demand at firm premiums. The
movement from the country has improved
ffonie of late, but is not expected to con
t inue.
Oats were helped upward by the bullish
Import of the Canadian crop report. The
oats c rop in western Canada, is estimated
m 217,10 000 bushels, against 391,756,000
bushels raised last year.
Rye trade was not very active. hut
prices ad winced easily, pressure being
absent. Production of rve in t'anada this
year is less, than half of last yearn har
vest.
Provisions were easy through the ses
sion. Lard closed 2% to 7%c down ami
rilis finished 10 to 12%<* lower.

looks for a reduction of around 200.000.

The demand for cash wheat In most of
the domestic markets was livelier with
premiums firm. The advanced premiums
in the southwest have checked the work
ing uf wheat to titis market. The move
ment of wheat off the farms is expected
to dwindle presently, especially in the
> «>utb w cat. In the middle west farmers
have not commenced to sell. The crop
in tins part of the country i* repotted
disappointing, especially from many sec
tions of Illinois.
Apparently Europe j* becoming more
concerned for her future needs. Broom
ball says that because of the uncertainty
• if the outcome of the Argentine and Aus
’ kalian crops buyers are beginning to take
hold. World supplies and demand this
> ear is going to be closely adjusted, and
it will be a case of biriding for require
ments on this crop whereas last year for
eign buyers "sat back" through the Rea
son an<l accepted wheat almost Invariably
at concessionary levels.

of stop-loss orders A heavy block of
Atchison and a few others were caught,
but prices snapped back. Stop-loss or
ders placed In specialist s’ hooks are re
garded as confidential, but It is surpris
ing the knowledge some people have con
cerning them.
Buying developed In the afternoon.
Steel rotrunon recovered a point from Its
low; *Baldwln. I; Lehigh Valley, nearly
and the "Rig Four." 2’3 points In
the morning trading a resumption of the
forward movement was in progress, with
new high prices for the year made In
New York Central, Southern Pacific and
the "Rig Four."
Sharp advances occurred in commodi
ties. cotton rising $5 a, bale, wheat 2*ic
a bushel, and corn JUr. Raw sugar
prices were advanced from 3.34 ft 3.2,6c.
Cr nper remained unchanged at 13 Sc
Sterling was reactionary and lost about
IV, carrying other rates lower. The Mar
ket Ignored the remarks of returning
financiers, who expressed optimism over
the turn of events abroad and who look
