sie, June 1*.—The champion
ship of the Intercollegiate lie
gatta association, which flic I nlver
sity of 3\ ashingtnn carried hark to
the Pacific coast la«f June, will re
main on tile other side of the conti
nent another year. The far western
ers this afternoon scored their second
consecutive triumph in the varsity
race when, after leading most of the
way, they flashed over tile finish line
more than a length ahead of Wiscon
sin. The eastern crews, Cornell,
Pennsylvania, Syracuse and Colum
bia, finished in the order named.
The Washington victory was a
clean cut triumph, the result of an
early lead which the Huskies main
talned in a gruelling battle with Wi.
consin and Cornell down tha last
mile. And the Washington crew
stamped itself as worthy successors
to the famous eight stroked by Dow
Walling, which won Washington's
first victory last year. A feature of
the race was the fine showing of the
Wisconsin and Cornell crews, which
had not been considered by experts
as serious contenders.
The two other events of regatta
went to Pennsylvania whose crews
scored clean cut victories in the
Junior varsity and freshmen events
The Pennsylvania Juniors were not
seriously pushed, but their freshmen
won after a hard struggle? down the
last half mile with Cornell.
In last night's snooker contest at
Holmes' recreation parlor, Ike Solo
mon defeated Joe Allen, 133 to 40.
Allen made high run with 29. Solo
mon Is scheduled to play Amburt to
night.
