pw First Baptist Edifice
Dedicated After $45,000
Raised.
After J4G,O(I0 had been raised to
tneet outstanding obligations and pro
vide for Interest and Insurance, the
Tlrst Baptist church, First avenue
and Sixth street. Council Bluffs, was
dedicated Sunday night.
Henry Peterson, chairman of the
building committee, presented the key
of the church to Peter Madsen, chair
man of the board of trustees. Rev.
J. Frederick Catlln offered the dedi
cr.tnry prayer.
Rev. F. H. Divine delivered, ser
nmns at both the morning and even
ing services. Twenty-eight thousand
dollars was raised at the morning
service. Canvassers had raised the
amount to within »1,«00 of tha goal
by the conclusion of the evening meet
ing. The finance committee assumed
the balance. *
Open house will be held this even
ing from S to 9. At 9 service will
be held In the church auditorium by
Henry Peteraon. Miss Lillian Kng
lund, organist, will offer several num
bers. Prayer will be offered by Rev.
-I. R. Perkins, pastor of tha First
Congregational church.
Rev. J. F. Catlln will give an ad
dress of welcome, which will ha re
sponded to by Rev. Paul Calhoun,
pastor of tha ‘First Presbyterian
church, In behalf of tha ministers of
Council Bluffs, and by Theodore
Foam, superintendent of -schools, In
behalf of citizens of tha Bluffs.
closing prayer will ba mads by
' Rev. R. Burton Sheppard, pastor of
the Broadway Methodist church.
Meetings will be held each evening
during the week to Friday.

Three thousand publlo school chil
dren will demonstrate the value of
physical education in an exhibition to
be staged In Bayltsa park on Friday
of this week, under the direction of
Otto Wurl, director of physical edu
. cation In Council Bluffs grade
schools.
Included In tha program of events
will be boys’ relay races, shuttle '
races, hurdle races, girls’ relay races. |
