Thresher company.
He left a trail of worthless checks
to the amount of $200.
The bridal pair was arrested In a
downtown dance hall Wednesday night
with Mr. and Mrs. Dean C. Nordin,
24X9 Pratt street. The stolen automo
bile was parked out in front.
The quartet told officers they had
spent the evening at the home of the
bride's sister, Mrs. Charles K. Nor
Jin, 24X9 Pratt street, and later had
gone to the dance hall.
The bride and the Nordins denied
any knowledge of wrongdoings with
which Johnson was accused by po
lice.
They said they had been at a wed
ding dinner at the home of the bride’s
sister. *
"I'm through," cried Josephine
through her tears. "I'm going to start
annulment proceedings as soon as I
get out of her*.
"I was already engaged when 1 met
him, only a week ago.
"But he was too fast. He swept
me oft my feet, i agreed to marry
hin. .
"He told me he was a member of an
orchestra. Put he wouldn't even play
the piano for me. He said he was too
tired. I can't Imagine he did all those
things police say he did."
Other Wife Would Help.
Mrs. Johnson, the first wife and
mother of the "bridegroom's" 17
month-old baby, called Detective Bob
Heller by telephone to ask if she
should appear at headquarters to file
a complaint against her husband.
"I guess you won't need to,” the
detective told her. "There are almost
enough complaints filed against him
now."
Mrs. Johnson did not Indicate
whether she would sue for divorce,
Heller said.
BANCROFT CENTER
- CLOSES SEASON
A special request program will close
the school season for the Bancroft
community center Friday, April 4.
The program will be the 20th of a
series.
Many are in favor of moving the
centers from the school to the city
parks for summer meetings.
Among the entertainers will be the
O. M. C. string quartet. Roy L. John
son, H. Truesdale, Wilson and Hearne,
inlnstrefs: Nellie Darland and Mrs.
George Maxwell.
