the Benson Methodist church. Mrs.
K. Nickerson of Puplllion, district
president, was in the chair. Two state
"ffieers, Mrs. Paul Perryman, Ord.
slate president, and Mrs. W. K I
Minier, also atttended.
Principal speakers of the morning
were Dr. Jennie Callfaa on "Our Re
lailons to the Community at Large;”
Rabbi Frederick Cohn on "Industrial
and Social Condition,” and Mrs.
Myrtle Mason, publicity chairman,
who discussed club publicity in news
papers under the heading “A Line of
Type.”
A plea forthe inclusion of hospitals
in the community chest was made by
Rabbi Cohn. He stated that hospitals
are doing a great welfare work and
running behind financially.
Miss Louise Hatch, the Voting
Women's Christian association, set
forth the work of the Girl Reserves,
and Miss Bertha Bishop, county su
perintendent of schools for Sarpy
county, presented "Boys’ and Girls’
^tjhibs" for rural children.
Mrs. Mason substituted for Mrs.
Kdgar S. Penney, Fullerton.
Presentation of the work of the
club departments was to continue this
afternoon, after which dinner will he
served at the church and a musical
program this evening.
Features of tomorrow morning’s
program will he talks by J. Laurie
Wallace, Mrs. Grace Poole Steinberg,
state music chairman, and a parlla
xnetitary drill led by Mrs. John Slaker,
state director.
U. S. SHOULD STAY
HOME, SAYS RILEY
Frank B. Riley-, lecturer, who is to
address a meeting sponsored by the
Advertising-Selling league at the Ma
sonic temple tonight, arrived in Omaha
this morning.
"I am in favor of Americans stay- !
ing at home,” Riley said. "There is
enough to see here without crossing
the ocean just to see sights.”
The northwest is a hobby of Riley
and it is about this great country
that he lectures. He declared that
there was no section in the world
where opportunities are greater than
there.
