Joy Is B-C Call
for Laf Writers
Omaha Screen* Radiate
Chuckles When Local
Laf* Are Shown.
.Station JOT la broadcasting fun
every week at the Sun, Surburban,
Henalto, Lothrop, Grand and Lyric
theaters In Omaha and the Strand
theater in Council Bluffs.
It Is quite generally known that
this refers to the Local Lafs for
which The Bee is offering cash prizes
every week. The first prize is a check
for |5, ths second Is $3, third Is |2,
r.nd there are 12 additional prizes ofj
$1 each. These prize Jokes with the
names of their authors appear on
theae screens where thousands of
movie fans laugh over these original
Jokes.
Have you tuned In to receive the
waves of happiness?
Sense of Humor.
All you have to do Is to hath a
sense of humor, write out your lafs
on the blanks which appear in The
Bee, mail them to the Local Laf Edi
tor and await results. If you don't
win the first time, try again. Persist
fnt effort usually brings Its reward.
Think of the honor of seeing your
name on the screen, to say nothing of
the cash prizes.
Lest we forget, remember, friends,
that your jokes must be original and
of not more than 30 words each.
Make them snappy and clean. Join
the host of Local Laf fans. You don’t
know what you can do until you try.
Hundreds have already sent In
their jokes. Some have merit, others
not so good. The Omaha Bee wants
to know who Omaha’s humorists are.
Achieve Fame.
Your friend and neighbor is achiev
ing fame because of his contribution
to the Local Lafs and he Is also en
joying the thrill of receiving a check
for his Joke. You may do so. too.
Of the Jokes that do not win cash
prizes the Local Laf Editor selects
three every day for publication in this
column, to encourage those who did
not quite make the line and also to
furnish a little merriment along the
way. Today's are:
Englishman to Scout—Queen Eliza
beth touched father with a sword and
made him a lord.
Scout—Indians touched my father
on the head with tomahawks and
mado him an angel.
Z. M. Bressler, Niobrara, Neb.
Is this a healthy town?
Sure it is. When I came here I
couldn't talk or walk and I had no
hair.
How long have you been here?
I was born here.
Velma Agler, Elgin, Neb.
Mr. J—You are invited to attend a
party at my house tonight. Bring
something that’s no good but still you
can't get along without.
Mr. B—(Rubbing his head) I’ll bring
my wife.
Mrs. John Heebner, Weeping
Water, Neb.
