Offlc Rich* rd J. O’Brian W. H. Baumar Paul J. Murphy t Heyn Historical Sketch of the Foster-Barker Company $ MR. JAY D. FOSTER first engaged in the in surance business in Chicago in the year of 1886, coming to Omaha in 1889, where for the past 35 years he has been continuously engaged in insurance work. Starting in the business on his own account in May, 1889, he later merged his agency in September, 1891, with that of the H. E. Palmer & Son Agency under the firmmame of H. E. Palmer & Son Co., which Company continued until the demise of Capt. Palmer and his son George. The business was then taken over entirely by Mr. Foster in April, 1908. After two years in the Insurance Business under his own name, Mr. Joseph Barker joined Mr. Foster in April, 1908. The firm was incorporated, and has been conducted under the name of Foster-Barker Co., Inc., since that time. Mr. Barker, having been bom and raised in Omaha, enjoyed a wide and well earned acquaintance with business, professional, pioneer men and families of our city. This, coupled with en thusiasm and hard work, and paying particular attention to the sales end of the business led to increased volume. In the year of 1910, owing to the steady growth of the firm, Mr. Lee L. Hamlin, who had been since boyhood engaged in the fire insurance business, in the employ of some of the largest com panies, in executive positions, joined the organization, special izing in fire underwriting. As the business continued to grow, it was found necessary to increase the personnel. In 1910 Mr. Raymond F. Low joined the force. In 1911, Mr. E. A.-Creighton. In 1912, Mr. Edward B. Wirt, they later becoming officers of the Company. From time to time the expansion of the business required addi tional employes in the different departments. Looking back over his 35 years of experience, remembering the modest beginning in a small office with one assistant, Mr. Foster looks with pardonable pride at the results in the growth of the business to its present standing. FOREWORD Having faith in the continued development of Nebraska and sur • rounding territory, The Foster-Barker Co. looks forward to in creasing its staff, and SERVICE WHICH is “Having the training, knowledge, experience of its personnel, and the capacity of its organization at the disposal of its present and prospective customers for THEIR INTEREST and WEL FARE in insurance needs.” / Thi* i* the fir»l of t ifriei of advartiarmrnt• through \ , I which wa will acquaint you with the policy, ideal* I \ and acrvica of tho Foater Barker Organisation. / b oster-Barker Company Organization OFFICERS Jay D.
