dent of Ohio’s most novel organiza
' 'ion, the Widow and Widowers’ club,

if his life.
The letter was received here re
-ently by Mrs. It. E. Stull, founder of
rhe elub, which has a large voluntary
uembership. The attorney states In
his letter that money Is secondary
with him, and the woman he seeks
is his wife must not only he refined,
but must be able to assume control
f a palatial home, which the bache
or now occupies in Boston.
In contrast to this letter Is one re
ceived by Mrs. Stull from a lonesome
bachelor in Alaska. This man would
have a mate who loves the outdoors
and the "great open spaces." He
promises her, his letter states, scenery
more beautiful than that painted by
the greatest artists and excitement
more enjoyable than the bright lights

Sweden Seeks Slash

the country. The problem has as
sumed such importance that political
leaders have been touring the country
speaking on the subject, and expound
ing their various methods for reduc
ing the cost without reducing the
safety of the national defense.
The socialist and liberal parties ad
voeate curtailing the period of train
ing. the socialists asking a reduction
from 2S0 to 150 days, and the liberals
to 200 days.
The cabinet recently decided upon
a new uniform for the army of an
olive drab color, in the place of the
present gray, and cut somewhat after
the American army uniform. A hel
met for field use of the Franco-Brit
Ish type will be substituted for the
Boer hat.
