Parmele Given to 3-Year Term Former Cass County Bank Head Denied New Trial —Will Appeal. By A shot In ted Pre»» . PUUsmouth, Neb.. Feb. 8.—Charles O. Parmele, former head of the Cass County State bank, recently found Cuilty by a. jury here on a charge of embezzlement, today was sentenced to serve from one to three years tn the state penitentiary by Judge A. C. Troupe of Omaha, who came here especially to hear motion by counsel of the convicted banker for a new trial, which he subsequently over ruled. Attorneys for Parmele asked a new trial on the ground that some ot the Jurors, in affidavits, were of the opinion that the defendant was tiot given a fair trial. In overruling the motions, the judge criticized the attorney* for what he termed their antiquated methods of procedure. Motions were made for a new trial for Carl G Fricke, charged with falsifying the books of the Livingston Loan and Dullding association, which is now tn the hands of . a receiver Fricke jlso was found guilty by the jury here. Parmele was remanded to jail pending the fixing of his appeal bond by the slate supreme court at Lin coin. He gave notice of an appeal shortly after judgment was passed. Nebraska I Nubbins West Point —Prices at farm sales held near here are running very high. There is an exceptional demand for feed corn and cows. Three cows of I ordinary merit averaged over $100 apiece at a sale held near Bancroft. One sow at the Herman Toelle sale brought $200. Wyrnore—Anton Schiedler, Wy more cigar store owner, today filed for renoinination for county super visor from the Sixth district. He has held the same position for the last two terms. Red Cloud—Business continues so heavy through the railway yards here that the Burlington has re-estab lished the switching engine at this place. The engine and crew were taken out of service six weeks ago on a retrenchment move by the rail way. Wilber—Ben Steinmeyer, SI, farm er living east of here, died at hia home this morning. He leaves an invalid wife and two small children. He was a member of one of the pioneer families ol this viclnty. Beatrice—B. F. Steinmeyer. 41, farmer living near Clalonla, Neb., died at Lincoln, where he had been receiving treatment for some months. Ho was a son of William Steinmeyer, pioneer of Clatonia, and is survived by his wife and one child. He was a cousin of G. W. Steinmeyer, former representative from Gage county, and R. H. Steinmeyer of this city. Beatrice—Business men to the number of about 50 tendered a ban quet to William Kilpatrick, member of the firm of Kilpatrick Brothers, railroad contractors of tills city, at the Paddock hotel, the occasion be in* his 71st birthday anniversary.
