The light offerings of grain on the
Omaha market met with a good demand
I and mfft of the samples were cleaned
up early. Wheat was unchanged to 2
to Sc higher. Corn sold rpadily un
changed to u.c higher Oats were ^4 to
‘*c higher Rye and barley weie called
firm nominally.
Higher Liverpool wheat cables and a
belter demand for cash wheat, both do
mestic and export, coupled with the iight
run of receipts, caused a much more
optimistic feeling in the Chicago futures
market toda;,. There was some enlarge
ment in outside interest with no material
pressure on the market and it took
little buying to make the advance.
Country offerings of corn were very mod
erate considering the fact that weather
is favorable for a movement and the
recent upturn in the market.
Market News.
Kansas City vheat stocks are around
n oon,000 bushels. A message from there
estimates that about 3.000.000 bushels
• ''tied by mills and 1.500,000 by co-opera
i live interests A good part of the re
mainder of the stock consists of low
I grades.
Minneapolis flour shipments: From Sep
tember 1 to January 4. Minneapolis has
chipped 6.715,000 barrels of flour com
pared with 7,590.000 barrels, during the
same period last year. Flour demand
there Saturday slightly better. Kansas
t'ity mills ground at 50 7 per cent of ca«
parity last week compared with 50 per
• ent the previous week and t*5 per cent
last. year.
i Export: Russell's News wires: A better
business In wheat was indicated over
Sunday; sonto exporters reported every
thing offered was accepted. It was dif
ficult to estimate the quantity, but it
appeared rather certain that sales totaled
between 600,000 and 750,000 bushels
Manltobas.
Wheat and corn: Development of a good
export business In Manitoba wheat over
Sunday with light offerings made the ad
vance easily attained. Corn up In sym
pathy with wheat.
H. I. Baldwin of Decatur, 111., says:
Many farmers are now hard at It getting
the balance of their corn shucked and the
week past has been more favorable for
curing corn than any week this fall and
winter. We are hopeful that a considera
ble percentage of the January shipments
from Illinois will be as good as No. 4.
Wagon roads are im proving and con
siderable corn is expected to reach coun
try elevators the coming week. Quite* a
few old contracts remain to be filled and
occasionally only is a new one entered
into.
This country’ soils good quantities of
corn during January and February.
Broomhall. Liverpool cable says: The
whuit situation maintains a firm outlook,
sto< ke are small and quantities on pas
sage are smaller than normal. The Liver
pool future market closed firm on Satur
day. but Chicago and Winnipeg did not
act In sympathy, due. no doubt, to the
extreme cold weather prevailing there
throughout the entire northwest, inter
rupting telegraphic communication and
keeping many traders away.
The market for corn Is a little easier
due to the break in cosh prices In the
Argentine. Receipts at the American in
terior markets are small and practically
all absorbed Immediately The cold weather
however is now very favorable for the
conditioning and grading of corn. Spot
■ales of corn rule strong.
Liverpool spot wheat: No. 1 Manitoba,
new, unchanged; barruso Argentina, un
changed.
Kansas City wheat demand: Message
from Kansas City says: Receipts of wheat
slill adequate to fulfill demand and stocks
in store are being drawn upon moderately
for about first time on the crop; demand
was good: mills buying medium and com
mon wheat in view of scarcity of good
and choice.

PresHUte in the wheat pit continued
negligible. Tne primary moveni-nt aggre

2.265,000 bushels for the same period a

Some buying of July wheat here was
further augmented by the belief the re

scattered sections From various parts
of Kansas reports came In that snow

entirely.
The condition of the winter wheat crop
generally to date has been above t ha
average and it is the anticipation
that It may easily depreciate that Ijas
led to Improved suppott in the new crop
months. However crop conditions are not
regarded as a paramount factor in the
trend at prerent.
Stocks of wh-at in Kurope arc not large

larger than expo* ted for the reason that
the movement of the new Argentine
wheat crop Is behind schedule The south

unfavorable weather at maturity delayed
harvest ing.
