BLOOMFIELD—Entries for tho crlhbage tournament to be staged at the city hall December 28 Indicate that at lenst 50 players will partici pate. A big oyster supper will be served at the close of the tournament, iosers being obliged to pay expenses. NEBRASKA CITY—A Coolidge for 1 resident club was organized at tha courthouse, with Judge Paul Jessen, president, and L. P. Jackson, secre tary. WYMORE—The hardware store conducted by C. J. Werner for 10 years has been sold to Roy Howe of Bgrneston. BEATRICE—About 25 carloads ot walnut logs have been shipped from Gage county the last few weeks, to Kansas City and Des Moines, to be used in making furniture. WYMORE—The Dodge Bros., and Essex automobile salesrooms operated on Main street here for the lost four years by R. G. Lipscomb and brother, has been sold to Merle P. Briggs, of Summerfield, Kan. The change will be made next week. Mr. Lipscomb lias not announced wHether he will re-enter business in another line in Wymore. BEATRICE—At the annual meet ing of the Beatrice Kiwanls club, County Judge Fred Messmore was elected president for the coming year. Other officers chosen were vice presi Dr. C. A. BEATRICE—At the farm sale of Harley Trump near Holmesville, horBes sold for about $76 a head and milch cows for $50 a head. Farm ma chinery was In demand and brought good prices. Mr. Trump and family soon will leave for Colorado where they expect to make their home for the present. ARNOLD—Maxine, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hoffman of Arnold, turned her ankle and fell on her tvay home from school, striking her head on the sharp edges of her dinner pail and cutting a gash above the eye. Two stitches were required to close the wound. TABLE ROCK—Member of the Pawnee County Livestock Breeders' association and wives enjoyed a ban quet and meeting recently at the Methodist church In Pawnee City. About 100 were present. TABLE ROCK—Petitions are in circulation in Gage county to place the name of Loren H. Lnughlln, a Beatrice attorney, in nomination as a candidate for state senator from the Sixteenth district, comprising Gage and Pawnee counties. This district is now represented by Senator J. D. Earr of Mission Creek, this county. RED CLOUD—Rev. O. R. Heinitz, who has been pastor of the Lutheran charges at Red Cloud, Riverton nnd Naponee, has been transferred to Up land. The church at Upland is newly organizer!. Mr. Helntz will continue his work at Naponee. while the work here will probably be in charge of Rev. Mr. Insolman of Cowles. The Riverton charge will he looked after by Rev. Mr. Robbert of Campbell. AURORA—A Christmas cantata, "The Star of Bethlehem,” will be given at the Presbyterian church Sun day afternoon, Miss Grace Hartnell directing. In the evening, at the United Brethren chtirch, the cantata, "The Christmas Adoration," will be given by the choir. RED CLOUD—The Methodist choir Is making arrangements for the can tata known as "The Christ Child,” which will he put cm st the church Pufulay. The cantata consists of 12 parts. HOLDREGE—The Holdrege Ki wanis club has just closed a success ful year, with over 40 members. The following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Dr. E. I. Whitehead; vice president, L. E. CMad derdon; secretary, Harold Hjemfeldt; treasurer,'' Arthur Edwards; district delegate, Fred Brown; directors, Henry Erickson, Frank Falk, Claude Norris, D. T. Johnson, Harry Eck burg. Gold Sonneborn and Chester Winquest. BEATRICE—Postmaster Robert Pease has received, word from Senator Howell at Washington, D. C-, stating that the senate had confirmed his ap pointment. KEARNEY—Kearney has com pleted its paving program for the year, work in the last district being finished this week. A total of over 30 blocks was paved, representing in excess of 50,000 square yards of asphalt paving, was laid down. This does not include completion of the mile and a half stretch of paving ex tending from the courthouse to the Platte river. The total Investment represents about $200,000. TABLE ROCK—Glen Johnson, who was recently arrested by Sheriff Guy E. Avery of this county on tlhe charge of illegal possession of a gtill and a quantity of mash and was later turned over to the sheriff of Richardson county, when It was found that the still was In that county, was fined $500 and sentenced to three and one-half months In the county Jail.
