George’s Visit.
Ily A«w>rlntci1 Press.
Oakland, Cal., ‘Nov. 2.—Senator Hl

yesterday.
“I deny we will do anything of the
Port,” he continued. “The United

European statesmen or the mawkish
appeals of any of her own, will be
net her policeman nor collector abroad.
America will answer the anguished
cry of human suffering abroad with
contributions of money and food, hut
the nation should stand solidly
against participation in Europe’s po

Senator Johnson declared the for

i made it "perfectly clear” that if Ger

expected to "march with the allies to
deal with her recalcitrancy.” He ac

^^Secretarv of State Hughes and "My
Lord” Ctirzon relative to America's
participation in German reparations
negotiations.

Beating the Game
There are some people who match their
bankroll in a foot race with the land
lords’ ideas on proper rent. Naturally
they lose, dollars are scarce, ideas are
fast and plentiful. The wise folks do
not enter into such a losing game. They
check over the “Realtor” ads in the
Real Estate For Sale columns and put
down a few dollars on a good home and
pay rent to themselves. That’s beating
the game.
