Meet Nov. 20-22
A meeting of the National Progress
iva party here on November 20 to 22,
at which an attempt will be made to
unite all farmer, labor, co-operative
and progressive political forces, and
to i«emedy the existing economic evils
was announced last night by Roy
Harrop, national chairman of the pro
gressive party.
"To take the government out of
the hands of special privileges and
Wall street's influence and .nake It
in reality ‘a government of the peo
ple, for the people and by the people’
so that they may enjoy their consti
tutlonal rights ae free men of life,
liberty and the pursuit of happiness,”
are among the alms of the convention,
the call said.
Among those to whom invitations
to speak at the convention have been
sent are Henry Ford, Magnus John
son and Henri Shipstead, the latter
two United States senators from Min
nesota; J. A. Hopkins, chairman of
the committee of 48; Alice Lorraine
Daily, progressive candidate for gov
ernor of South Dakota; George W.
Armstrong of Fort Worth, Tex.; Lynn
G. Frazier, United States senator
from North Dakotu, and Samuel
Untermeyer of New York.

Regular flight* of the transcontl
nental nlght-and day air mail will not
start until next spring, D. B. Colyer,
superintendent of the central dlvl-,
slon, said Tuesday.
"tve haven’t the planes for the
night flight yet,’’ he said. "On the
trial flights we used the same kind
of ships as we use on the day flightB
In regular work a new ship, better
adapted to night flying 1* to be used.
They are to be of such type as to
be slower in landings than the day

Frisco Thief Can’t Keep

San Francisco, Oct. 23.—Odin Blood
didn’t intend to let six months In the
city prison cause him to forget any
of the tine points of his trade and to
keep in practice, according to the po
lice, he used his fellow prisoners as
subjects on which to work.
Blood was sentenced for larceny.
Soon after his arrival In prison other
inmates began to report loss of
knives, watches, pocket trinkets,
shoe* and other article*.
Yesterday Blood was again In po
lice court on a charge of larceny. The
judge reserved decision.
A Bare Bird.
Denver, Oct. 23.—A snow white
crow, or magpie, believ'd to be trie
only specimen ever taken alive,
was captured yesterday near Den
ver by JoBeph Cummings, high
school boy.
Charles Bowman Hutchins, na
turalist. of Mill Valley, Cal., who
is In Denver, heard of the find and
last night went to the boy's home
to see the bird.
"I believe this Is the only pure
white magplo in existence so far
as scientists have been able to dis
cover," Hutchins said. “It has been
known that »uch bird existed,” he
continued, "because a few have
been found dead and are now In
museums in the east. The spec men
Is snow white ami In perfect health.

er on It. It even has albino eyes.*
